摘要: A plasma display device having an improved electrode structure that is capable of improving a contrast of the plasma display panel while decreasing a discharge firing voltage is provided. A plasma display panel according to an embodiment of the invention includes first and second substrates disposed opposite to each other, barrier ribs arranged in a space between the first substrate and the second substrate to define at least one discharge cell, address electrodes formed along a first direction, and display electrodes formed along a second direction intersecting the first direction. The display electrodes include bus electrodes formed extending in the second direction, expansion electrodes that extend toward the center of each discharge cell from the bus electrodes and face each other in the discharge cell with a discharge gap interposed therebetween, and auxiliary electrodes located at front ends of the expansion electrodes opposite to each other.

摘要: A PDP having an opposing electrode structure including first and second substrates facing each other. A space between the first and second substrates is divided into discharge cells. Address electrodes extend in a first direction between the first and second substrates, and first and second electrodes extend in a second direction intersecting the first direction while being spaced apart from the address electrodes. At least one of the address electrodes or the first and second electrodes has a protruding portion that protrudes toward the center of each discharge cell. The protruding portions help reduce the discharge gap which in turn reduces the discharge firing voltage. Expansion portions formed as parts of the first and second electrodes increase the discharge gap used by the sustain discharge and lead to an improved luminescence efficiency.

摘要: The invention provides a plasma display panel having an opposed discharge configuration that can improve luminous efficiency while reducing a discharge firing voltage. The PDP may include a first substrate separated from an opposing second substrate by a predetermined interval. A plurality of discharge cells may be defined between the substrates within this interval. Address electrodes having protrusions that protrude toward the inside of each discharge cell may extend on the first substrate along a first direction. First electrodes may be arranged on both sides of the discharge cell along a second direction crossing the first direction and may be spaced from the address electrode between the first substrate and the second substrate. Second electrodes arranged between and substantially parallel the first electrodes may pass through each discharge cell. The first and second electrodes may project away from the first substrate and in a direction toward the second substrate.

The ends of each subpixel have a first width, and a center area of each subpixel has a center width. The center area of one of the red, green, or blue subpixels is formed having a second width that is smaller than the first width, and the center area of another one of the red, green, or blue subpixels is formed having a third width that is larger than the first width.

摘要: A method and apparatus for driving a plasma display panel (PDP) with discharge cells arranged between a first substrate and second substrate, address electrodes arranged along a first direction, first electrodes and second electrodes arranged along a second direction crossing the first direction on opposite sides of each of a discharge cell, and scan electrodes arranged along the second direction that partition each discharge cell into two discharge spaces. The two discharge spaces of one discharge cell share a scan electrode. By selectively biasing the first electrodes and second electrodes during an address period, the two discharge spaces can be addressed during a first half and a second half of a single address period or during two distinct address periods. Sustain discharge for a single subfield can be generated in the two discharge spaces during a single sustain discharge period or during two distinct sustain discharge periods.

摘要: A plasma display panel which is capable of decreasing a discharge firing voltage and reducing a reset period and an addressing period to improve a luminescence efficiency. The plasma display panel includes: a first and second substrate arranged to face each other with a predetermined space therebetween and having a plurality of discharge cells defined in the space between the first and second substrates; a plurality of phosphor layers formed inside the respective discharge cells; first and second display electrodes formed to extend along a first direction and between the first and second substrates to correspond to the respective discharge cells, the respective first and second display electrodes facing each other with a space therebetween to expand in a third direction from the first substrate to the second substrate; and first and second address electrodes formed to extend along a second direction intersecting the first direction, between the first and second substrates, and separated from each other in the third direction.
