Abstract: In aspects of digital media playback based on UWB radios, a system includes ultra-wideband (UWB) radios associated with respective media devices in an environment. A media playback manager receives location information for each of the media devices in the environment based on a position of the UWB radio associated with a respective media device. The media playback manager determines a location of each of the media devices relative to a position of a person in the environment. The media playback manager can then initiate communication of the digital media to a media device for digital media playback of the digital media, where the digital media is communicated to the media device based on the determined position of the person relative to the location of the media device in the environment.

Abstract: In aspects of quantum-based security for hardware devices, a computing device includes a processor for application processing in a trusted execution environment, and includes a quantum random number generator to generate quantum random numbers sourced by multiple hardware devices in the computing device. The computing device also includes an embedded secure element that manages connection security of the multiple hardware devices, and is a single root of trust as a secure controller of the quantum random number generator. The computing device also includes a secure switch controlled by the embedded secure element, the secure switch being switchable to connect at least one of the multiple hardware devices to obtain a quantum random number from the quantum random number generator. The secure switch may be a virtualized secure switch implemented in the embedded secure element.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a user interface device and a wireless transceiver that scans for a wearable device within a threshold distance of the electronic device. The wearable device has an access key. A memory of the electronic device contains: (i) an access data structure; (ii) protected content; and (iii) an access application. A controller of the electronic device is communicatively coupled to the user interface device, the wireless receiver, and the memory. The controller executes the access application to enable the electronic device to determine whether the access key of a detected wearable device maps to a record in the access data structure identifying privileges associated with the protected content of the electronic device. Privileged interaction is enabled, via the user interface device, with the protected content in response to determining that the access key maps to the record having the privileges.

The method includes receiving, at a first communication device, an activation of a verification mode for a phone call. The method includes receiving, from a second communication device on the phone call, first audio data associated with the phone call. The method further includes determining, via a processor of the first communication device, if the first audio data contains machine originated audio, and in response to determining that the first audio data does not contain machine originated audio, generating and outputting an alert that the phone call is live.

Abstract: Content visibility on a computing device is controlled based at least in part on the proximity of a wearable device to the computing device. When the wearable device is in close proximity to the computing device and the computing device is unlocked, the computing device operates in a full content visibility mode. In the full content visibility mode all user-selectable content on the computing device is displayed. When the wearable device is not in close proximity to the computing device and the computing device is unlocked, the computing device operates in a reduced content visibility mode. In the reduced content visibility mode content visibility on the computing device screen is reduced, such as by limiting which applications (e.g., application icons or widgets) are displayed.

When the current location is a safe location for making user-selectable content visible on a display screen of the computing device and the computing device is unlocked, the computing device operates in a full content visibility mode. In the full content visibility mode all user-selectable content on the computing device is accessible to a user of the computing device. When the current location is not a safe location for making user-selectable content visible on the display screen, the computing device operates in a reduced content visibility mode. Abstract: A method in an electronic device includes determining, with at least one proximity sensor component proximately located with a fingerprint sensor, that an object is proximately located with the fingerprint sensor. Abstract: A modular portable device system and method improves the quality of the interface between a core device and an add-on module via an interconnection system specifically applicable to modular systems. A multi-pin connector array accessible from outside the base device is configured and located to electrically connect to a mating array on the add-on module when the two devices are docked. The application processor of the base device uses different pins or pin sets of the interface to provide mutually exclusive data channels having distinct data rates for transmission of various types of data with less waste. In an embodiment, a control pin is used by the devices to signal a channel and associated data type to be transmitted.
