摘要: A system for providing automatic off-line availability of shared document content linked in electronic mail (“email”) messages. Documents indicated by links in processed email messages may accessed when a client system user is working either online or offline. A software component operates to read through email messages sent to a client system user, and to locate messages including links to content stored on the server system. The software component accesses the content indicated by the links contained in the email messages, and moves the content onto the client system for offline access. The software component may include a periodically scheduled agent, and/or a component that is called just prior to the client system or email application going offline.

摘要: A method, system and apparatus for the offline securing of messages through selective security data replication. A method for selectively replicating security data for offline processing of electronic messages can include identifying a messaging partner associated with the electronic message responsive to processing an electronic message. Subsequently, it can be determined whether electronic messages previously had been received from or transmitted to the identified messaging partner. If it is determined that electronic messages previously had been received from or transmitted to the identified messaging partner, identifying information for the identified messaging partner can be added to a batch listing. Consequently, during a replication process, security data can be selectively replicated from an external repository to a local repository only for security data associated with messaging partners corresponding to identifying information in the batch listing.

摘要: A system for making the contents of the “Subject:” field of a response email message more meaningful and more useful within a conversation thread of email messages by providing an abstract of the response message within the “Subject:” field. Before a response message is sent, the system automatically generates at least one new subject line that it proposes to the user for use in the “Subject:” field of the response message. The system generates a user interface display of a number of proposed subject lines, and also provides the user with the options of accepting, modifying, or declining the proposed subjects lines. The displayed contents of a “Subject:” field for the response message contains the currently selected one of the proposed subject lines. A predetermined one of the proposed subject lines may be provided as an initial default value of the “Subject:” field. The system generates the proposed subject lines using auto-summarization techniques, which are performed using various text analysis and information retrieval techniques based on attributes of the response message.

摘要: A system for providing a gathered threads view of email messages that effectively indicates the presence of messages from important persons and/or from new participants in the thread. When a message in a thread is received, the sender of the message is compared to a list of important persons for the receiving user. If the message is from a person that is important to the receiving user, then an indication of that message is presented in the user interface with a higher display precedence than indications of messages in the thread from users that are not important. The sender of a received message in a thread may also be compared with the senders of previous messages in the thread and the recipients of the first message in the thread. If the sender of the received message is a person that has not previously been a sender of a previous message in the thread, then that message is considered to be from a new participant in the thread, and an indication of the received message is presented in the user interface with a higher display precedence than indications of messages in the thread sent from persons that had previously been senders. The system may display indications of all messages in a thread received from important persons are displayed at a higher precedence than indications of messages from new thread participants, which are in turn displayed at a higher precedence than indications of all other messages in the thread.

摘要: A system for providing version control for documents attached to electronic mail messages in which a user's personal document library is used to store documents attached to the email messages the user sends and/or receives. Each time an attached document is transmitted or received within a message thread, a different version of the document is created and stored in the personal document library. The multiple document versions created allow the disclosed system to provide the user with the options of opening the most recent version of an attached document and/or opening the version of the attached document that is associated with the specific opened message. An attached document is represented within an email message using a URL (Uniform Resource Locator), where the stored URL points to the version of the attached document for that message that is stored in the user's personal document library. Through an API (Application Programming Interface) provided by the personal document library, the most recent version of a document can be requested, or another specific version of the document can be indicated for opening.

摘要: A system and method for automatically generating and receiving notifications regarding accesses to documents in a shared repository, where the notifications are filtered such that they are only generated and/or received for accesses that match a personal interest profile of a local user. The personal interest profile of the local user includes a number of keywords determined to be of interest to the local user, as well as a number of important person identifiers associated with other users determined to be important to the local user. The system is operable to provide notifications in response to accesses by important other users to shared documents, including reading of those documents by the important other users.

摘要: A system for providing return receipts in an electronic mail (“email”) system. The system provides information in the receipts enabling a user to track messages, and provides controls to sending and receiving users to effectively manage the return receipt feature. The system is not limited to providing receipt information regarding whether the message has been delivered and read, and can provide a variety of information regarding how the message was processed after its receipt. The disclosed system also provides a rich set of options with regard to sending user and receiving user controls over the return receipt feature. A sending user can request that specific receipt information be provided, for certain messages, and/or can individually select specific types of receipt information. The receiving user is also provided with controls for enabling, disabling and/or applying specific conditions to all or certain types of return receipts. In a further aspect of the disclosed system, the return receipt feature can be managed via a globally defined policy.

摘要: A system that enables a user to conveniently reduce the size of one or more mailboxes stored on the client computer system. The user can indicate that “unimportant” email messages are to be removed from one or more mailboxes. Unimportant email messages are automatically removed before important ones. To calculate the importance of a message for a given user, message attributes such as users associated with and/or terms contained in the message are compared against a personal interest profile associated with the local user. Additionally, dates associated with the message, such as when the message was added to the mailbox, and/or when the message was last read, may be used to further determine message importance. The size of a message may also be considered when determining whether a message should be removed.
