摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates opposed to each other; a plurality of pixels for realizing display; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates and including a liquid crystal region corresponding to each of the pixels, the liquid crystal regions being surrounded by a polymer wall. At least one of the substrates is transparent and includes thereon an optical element for adjusting a transmittance of light therethrough. The optical element corresponds to each of the pixels. The optical element has a transmittance of no greater than 50% with respect to light of at least one wavelength in the range of 250 to 400 nm and has a maximum transmittance of at least 20% with respect to light of a wavelength of more than 400 nm.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes a pair of opposing substrates and polymer dispersed liquid crystal interposed between the pair of opposing substrates, the polymer dispersed liquid crystal including a polymer matrix and a plurality of liquid crystal droplets partitioned by the polymer matrix. The polymer matrix and the plurality of liquid crystal droplets are formed by applying light and/or heat to a polymer dispersed liquid crystal precursor in which a polymer for forming the polymer matrix and liquid crystal molecules for forming the liquid crystal droplets are combined via a combining group, the combining group being cleaved by the application of light and/or heat.

摘要： An object of the invention is to improve the display uniformity of a liquid crystal display apparatus and thereby make the viewing angle less problematic. A pair of first electrodes are formed on one of a pair of light transmitting substrates and a second electrode is formed on each of the first electrodes by polymerizing a conducting polymeric material thereon by the use of constant current electro-polymerization method so as to have a thickness almost equal to the liquid crystal layer thickness. The pair of the first electrodes and the second electrode formed thereon are used as display electrodes. An orientation film is formed on each of the one light transmitting substrate on which the display electrodes are formed and the other of the pair of light transmitting substrates, and thereby a pair of substrate members are formed. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the substrate members. A polarizing plate is arranged on a side not-facing to the liquid crystal layer of the respective substrate members.

摘要： A liquid crystal display comprises a nematic liquid crystal layer disposed between alignment layers. The alignment layers are formed on substrates which also carry display control electrodes connected to a drive circuit. Polarisers are provided on opposite sides of the substrates. The alignment layers are arranged such that the liquid crystal molecule pretilt angles at the surfaces of the alignment layers are parallel. The liquid crystal layer has a retardance equal to (M+1).lambda./2 at a first operating voltage and M.lambda./2 at a second operating voltage, where M is an integer greater than zero or less than minus one and .lambda. is a wavelength of visible light.
