    摘要: A display device includes a light source, a light-directing element, a first lens, a microlens array, and a reflective display element. The light-directing element is adapted to project a lighting beam provided by the light source toward an incident direction. The first lens is configured to receive the lighting beam projected by the light-directing element and project the lighting beam toward the incident direction. The first lens is located between the microlens array and the light-directing element. The micro-image units of the reflective display element correspond to the microlenses of the microlens array respectively. Each micro-image unit converts the lighting beam into an sub-image beam and reflect the sub-image beam to the microlens array. Each sub-image beam is projected to the first lens by the corresponding microlens, and the sub-image beams pass through the light-directing element and transmit to an aperture to form an image beam.

    摘要: Provided is a liquid crystal display device performing reflection display, wherein light leakage in areas where structural members are provided in a liquid crystal layer, and flicker during low frequency driving, are suppressed. The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate 11; a reflection electrode 14 provided on the first substrate 11, for each pixel; a second substrate 20 provided so as to be opposed to the first substrate 11; a liquid crystal layer 16 provided between the first substrate 11 and the second substrate 20; and a structural member 17 provided in the liquid crystal layer 16 in such a manner that the structural member 17 protrudes from one of the first substrate 11 and the second substrate 20 toward the other substrate. In an area of each pixel, no reflection electrode 14 is provided in an area where the structural member 17 is provided.

    摘要: A multicolored pressure sensitive liquid crystal device includes a first transparent substrate that is flexible on which pressure is applied and a second substrate spaced apart from the first substrate. Also included are electrically conductive layers, one of which is in contact with the first substrate and is transparent and another of which is in contact with the second substrate. The electrically conductive layers are separated from each other. Also included is a pressure sensitive liquid crystal layer including cholesteric liquid crystal disposed between the electrically conductive layers. The liquid crystal layer includes at least first and second color regions. The first color region reflects light of a first color and the second color region reflects light of a second color. The pressure applied to the substrate results in a change in reflectance of the liquid crystal. In another aspect, the liquid crystal layer can include at least first and second regions that differ from each other in terms of a characteristic selected from the group consisting of wavelength of reflection, reflectivity, linewidth, electrooptic response, pressure sensitivity and combinations thereof.
