A medical X-ray apparatus is provided with image detector elements 30 which are arranged in a matrix of rows and columns. In order to improve the noise behaviour of the read amplifiers 46 during the reading per row, a plurality of column conductors 36 is provided per column so that the read time is prolonged in proportion to the number of column conductors and the stray capacitance is reduced proportionally. Both steps reduce the noise in known manner. In the case of an integrated implementation, the conductors for driving the reading per row cannot be arranged arbitrarily close to one another because of their mutual capacitance, so that these conductors require a comparatively large surface area. In order to make a smaller surface area suffice for these conductors, according to the invention each read driver 42 is connected to at least two rows of image detector elements 30 which are not associated with the same column conductor, the number of rows thus connected to one read driver being at the most equal to the number of groups of image detector elements in one column.

The invention provides a method for compensating synchronization errors in non-impact printers, without influencing the transport of the record carrier and without changing the printing frequency of the printing elements. A control value is derived from a difference between the actual transport speed and a predetermined transport speed of the record carrier. This control value is used to vertically deflect the recording beam, after each picture line, by a fraction of the predetermined picture line spacing. The sum of the cumulative vertical deflections are compared with the value of the picture line spacing, and the recording of the next picture line is delayed by one deflection period of the recording beam when the sum is greater than or equal to the value of the picture line spacing.

In order to eliminate streaky artefacts, the image values are applied to an analog-to-digital converter (5), the converted values being stored in an image memory (6), there being provided a signal processor (7) which subjects the image values of neighboring pixels in an image line to a low-pass filter function and which subjects the image values of pixels neighboring one another in the scanning direction to a high-pass filter function.

The invention relates to the elimination of streak-like artefacts in slit radiography which are caused by an axial excursion of the rotary anode X-ray tube used for making the radiographs. These streaks can be eliminated by adapting the speed of displacement of the X-ray beam, the number of revolutions per unit time of the anode and the intensity profile of the radiation beam to one another so that for each point the intensity modulation in the half-shade area, caused by the periodic displacement of the focal point, is compensated for.

In electrophotography or electroradiography charge images are formed which are customarily made visible by means of toners. The invention provides an electrostatic probe device for the electric scanning of charge images. The device, therefore, is particularly suitable for use in conjunction with digital image processing and storage. The device in accordance with the invention comprises a large number of electrode tracks which are provided on a flat substrate and on which there is provided an insulating layer on which a conductive layer is provided. The latter layer comprises cut-outs at the area of the electrostatic probe electrode heads. This device is suitable for the simultaneous measurement of the charge distribution at some hundreds of measuring locations.

The detection screen is provided with a conversion coating for converting an image-carrying photo-electron beam into a potential excursion and to this end contains, for example, an amorphous selenium coating or a porous KCl coating. A variable potential can be applied both over the vacuum gap between the photocathode and the conversion coating and over the conversion coating itself and, as a result of this, high image brightness dynamics can be achieved without image disruption.
