    Abstract: A webbing anchorage is provided for use in a seat belt system. The webbing anchorage comprises a bolt; an anchor metal plate having a base portion and a free end portion, said base portion defining a bolt hole through which said bolt is inserted, and said free end portion defining a slot through which a webbing can extend supportedly; a lower cover extending over one side of said base portion of said anchor metal plate; a flexible upper cover member extending over at least an opposite side of the said base portion of said anchor metal plate; and an impact-absorbing member arranged within a space between an inner wall of said upper cover member and at least one of said opposite side of said base portion of said anchor metal plate and a top wall of a head portion of said bolt.

    Abstract: A seat belt retractor is provided with a pretensioner which comprises a wound-wire tightening mechanism and a drive means. The wound-wire tightening mechanism is composed of a pulley fixedly mounted on an end portion of a take-up spindle and a wire wound around the pulley with a small space left therebetween. The drive means comprises a piston connected to a free end of the wire, a cylinder with the piston movably received therein, a compression coil spring disposed in the cylinder to bias the piston in the pulling direction of the wire, and a trigger unit releasably holding the piston relative to the cylinder such that the piston can be maintained at a biased position against the resilient force of the compression coil spring but the holding of the piston at the biased position can be released responsive to an acceleration of at least a predetermined value.

    Abstract: A seat belt anchor mechanism includes an anchor stay defining interlocking teeth, a base plate displaceable together with an associated vehicle seat along the anchor stay, an interlocking means fixed on the base plate for engagement with any one of the interlocking teeth in the event of an emergency, means for mounting the base plate on the seat in such a way that the interlocking means is displaceable in a direction which crosses the sliding direction of the seat, and a cover member displaceable between a normal position and an emergency position. In the normal position, at least a part of the cover member is interposed between the anchor stay and the interlocking means so as prevent the interlocking means from engaging any one of the interlocking teeth. In the emergency position, said at least a part of the cover member is retreated from the space between the anchor stay and the interlocking means so as to allow the interlocking means to engage any one of the interlocking teeth.
