Abstract:
A sheet feeder for feeding printed sheets to a conveying device, with a gripper drum that has at least one gripper for removing the printed sheets one at a time from a stack; a pocket is permanently mounted essentially in the peripheral area of the gripper drum wherein the printed sheets are aligned against a stop with the fold forward and set down on the conveying device with reversal of direction; and with a decelerating device for slowing the speed of the printed sheets downstream towards the stop. The decelerating device has at least one secondary stop, which rotates in the same direction as the gripper drum, has a slower speed than the gripper drum for slowing down the printed sheets, and on which the printed sheets are slowed down upstream of the stop.
Abstract:
A method for binding graphic products formed of folded signatures securely joined along a folded back end of the signatures includes providing at least one flexible tab and providing each signature, respectively, with at least one slit in a region of a fold. The tab is pulled into the slit for joining the signatures.
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for automatically trimming tree open side edges of printed products bound along a fourth edge to a desired format for each printed product. The printed products are transported in a transport direction along a surface of a trimming table. First, second and third trimming stations are located one after the other in the transport direction along the trimming table. Each trimming station includes a trimming device having at least one stationary blade that can be driven in a plane extending perpendicular to the surface of the trimming table, a positioning device for positioning one of the open side edges of a respective printed product on the trimming table to be cut, and a pressing device, with which a respective positioned printed product can be pressed over essentially the entire format during a out of the positioned open side edge. A transport device transports a respective printed product from the first trimming station to the second trimming station, and from the second trimming station to the third trimming station.
Abstract:
A device for opening and depositing a folded signature onto a moving conveyor for conveying the folded signatures in a conveying direction includes two opening rollers each having a rotational axis that extends essentially parallel to the conveying direction of the conveyor. The opening rollers have a mechanism for opening the signatures and depositing the signatures with an open side first in a downward direction onto the conveyor. A pre-accelerating mechanism is operatively associated with the opening rollers for pre-accelerating the signatures in the conveying direction.
Abstract:
A method and device to supply a processing section adjoining the device with print products withdrawn from a stack of print products in a feeder. The device including a magazine to contain the stack of print products and a separating device to separate a lowest print product from the stack along an edge region of the lowest print product formed by a sheet edge or a last fold. The device further includes a rear holder that is displaceable in coordination with the separating device to support the stack remaining during a cycle of withdrawing the lowest print product from the stack. A withdrawing device withdraws the lowest print product from an underside of the stack and includes a gripper to grip a front end of the lowest print product in the withdrawing direction while operating with timing of the separating device and the rear holder in the cycle.
Abstract:
An apparatus for separating and removing a flexible flat object, such as a printed product, from an underside of a stack of flexible flat objects, and for supplying the objects to a processing section, includes a conveying rotor having a central axis, a shaft arranged concentrically with the central axis and at least one separating element located in a circumferential region of the conveying rotor to respectively lift at least partially one of the flexible flat objects from the stack and deposit the object in a region of the circumference of the conveying rotor. The separating element includes a suction mount pivotally arranged on the conveying rotor and positioned at a distance from and parallel to the shaft; a suction head attached to the suction mount to pivot with the suction head and to grip the flexible flat object with a suction force; an activation mechanism to control a pivoting movement of the suction mount when an object is partially lifted from an end of the stack; a joint coupled to the suction mount; and a control device connected to the joint to effect a further pivoting movement of the suction mount.
Abstract:
A folding device for signatures includes a saddle-shaped folding sword having an upright folding edge and an inside guide element below the upright folding edge on which the signatures are folded while passing through the folding device. An outside folding element follows and operates jointly with the inside guide element for folding the signatures.
Abstract:
A device for placing printed sheets on a guide includes a mechanism for accelerating a printed sheet in an off-transport direction to a transverse velocity before the printed sheet is placed on the guide. The mechanism includes a gripping device for grasping the printed sheet by the front end thereof as seen in the off-transport direction and for accelerating the printed sheet in the off-transport direction by pulling the printed sheet.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for assembling printed products. The method and apparatus involve the selective delivery of the printed products to receiving devices situated in succession along a production line formed by a plurality of controlled sheet feeder stations. Printed products are selectively supplied to a receiving device at a discharge end of the production line, and transferred to a helical circulation track guiding a plurality of further receiving devices driven in synchronism with the production line through a feed path disposed between the discharge end of the production line and the circulation track. Any incomplete printed products are removed from the printed products, and replaced with replacement complete printed products by delivery of the replacement complete printed products to respective receiving devices of the circulation track corresponding to removed incomplete printed products at a feed point in the circulation track through the feed path. The feed path is thus adapted to transfer both originally complete printed products and replacement complete printed products to the circulation track.
Abstract:
Successive stacks of signatures which are accumulated on a turntable are transferred onto a first or onto a second removing conveyor by a pusher which is reciprocable by a carriage along a straight guide rail and is pivotable relative to the carriage so that its ejector bypasses the turntable during movement in a first direction in which it normally transfers stacks from the turntable onto the first removing conveyor or in a seond direction in which it normally transfers stacks from the turntable onto the second removing conveyor. The pusher is pivotable relative to its carriage by a follower which is mounted thereon and extends into a composite groove defined in part by a stationary cam and in part by a pivotable cam.
