Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for configuring beam pair links during random access. A User Equipment (UE) receives, in a first message of a Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure, a request from a Base Station (BS) to report information relating to a plurality of BS beams. The UE reports, in a second message of the RACH procedure, the information relating to one or more of the plurality of BS beams in response to the request. The UE receives configuration information including information relating to one or more beam pair links configured for communication between the UE and the BS based on the reported information.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to communication systems, and more particularly, to sending and monitoring for a decoding candidate. Certain aspects provide a method for decoding information sent via a wireless transmission. The method generally includes receiving an indication of an association between a first decoding candidate and a second decoding candidate, monitoring the first decoding candidate in a search space of a first set of resources, the first decoding candidate received from a wireless node, and monitoring the second decoding candidate in a search space of a second set of resources, the second decoding candidate received from the wireless node, wherein the monitoring of the second decoding candidate is based on the association between the first and second decoding candidates.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications for determining a minimum time gap between an received downlink message and transmission of an uplink message in response to the received downlink message. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may receive a downlink message to perform a random access procedure. The UE may determine a minimum time gap based on an uplink transmission preparation time. The UE may transmit a random access preamble based on the minimum time gap. In some examples, the UE may receive a timing advance (TA) command and may determine a minimum time gap between receipt of the TA command and transmission of a time-adjusted uplink message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for selecting different uplink transmission parameters for transmission or retransmission of a random access message. A user equipment (UE) may transmit or retransmit a random access message such as a layer 2 or layer 3 (L2/L3) message to a base station during a random access procedure. The UE may select a transmission beam, uplink resource or transmission power for the transmission of the L2/L3 message that differ from those used for transmission of a previous random access message. The selection may be based on path loss associated with synchronization signals or previous transmissions. The selection may also be based on a maximum number of retransmissions.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to synchronization signal (SS) transmission coordination among base stations (BSs) and restricted SS measurements at user equipments (UEs) are provided. A first BS transmits a first SS burst in a first SS transmission period of a plurality of SS transmission periods. The first SS transmission period is designated to the first BS. A second SS transmission period of the plurality of SS transmission periods is designated to a second BS. The first SS transmission period and the second SS transmission period are different. The first BS receives, from a UE, a first signal in synchronization with the first SS burst. The first signal includes a SS measurement of the first SS burst.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure implement techniques to allow a base station to transmit a “short-page” message (e.g., paging indicators) to one or more UEs. The short-page message may be decoded by all UEs in the paging cycle and identifies a subset of UEs from the full set of UEs that are paged by the base station. Upon decoding the short page transmitted by the base station, the UE may respond with a “short-page response” to the base station on a transmit beam that offers best signal quality (e.g., low signal-to-noise ratio, transmit power, etc.). Thus, in some examples, the UE, in response to receiving a short paging message, may provide feedback to the base station such that the base station may select a transmit beam for transmission for a subsequent message (and other communications).

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may receive a downlink transmission from at least one beam of a set of beams. The set of beams may be associated with a multi-beam communication between the apparatus and a base station. The apparatus may select a beam, of the set of beams, to report beam related information associated with the at least one beam of the set of beams. The apparatus may report an indication that the beam is a selected beam.
