One example method generally includes receiving, at a user-equipment (UE), at least one pilot signal via a secondary cell, receive, via a primary cell, a first message triggering reporting of at least one preferred beam for communication via the secondary cell, determining the preferred beam based on the at least one pilot signal, transmitting, via the primary cell, a report indicating the at least one preferred beam, and communicating data via the secondary cell and via the preferred beam.

A user equipment (UE) may obtain a configuration from a base station (BS) comprising at least one first pattern of beams to monitor when performing a beam recovery procedure, communicate using beamforming, with the BS, via an active transmit and receive beam pair, determine a beam failure of the active transmit and receive beam pair, and monitor the beams according to the first pattern in response to the beam failure.

摘要: Techniques are described herein for beam pair link procedures used in dual connectivity operations. A master base station may be configured to determine a timing window for a user equipment (UE) to monitor a downlink channel associated with a secondary base station. In some cases, the master base station may determine the timing window during a dual connectivity procedure or during a carrier aggregation procedure. The UE may monitor the downlink channel during the timing window and establish a beam pair link with the secondary base station based on the monitoring.

摘要: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide staggered synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) in frequency sub-bands for beamformed wireless communications. Transmissions of SSBs and control channel transmissions (e.g., remaining minimum system information (RMSI) physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmissions) may use multiple transmission beams in a beam sweeping procedure. The SSB transmissions may be transmitted using transmission beams that span one frequency sub-band of a number of available frequency sub-bands, and the control channel transmissions may use transmission beams that span two or more of the frequency sub-bands. The SSB beam sweeping procedure may be performed separately during staggered, non-overlapping time periods for each frequency sub-band of the number of frequency sub-bands. Each of the of SSBs may indicate a reference timing of the base station used to identify a set of resources (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) that carries control channel transmissions.

The UE determines a beam quality associated with the first random access resource. The UE initiates a random access request using the CFRA when the first random access resource is a contention-free resource, and the beam quality of the first random access resource is above a threshold beam quality. The UE initiates the random access request using the CBRA when the first random access resource is the contention-free resource, and the beam quality of the first random access resource is below the threshold beam quality.

摘要: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for selection of different sets of transmission beams by a user equipment (UE) for establishing beamformed communications with a base station. Each transmission beam of a first set of transmission beams may have corresponding uplink random access channel (RACH) resources. A UE may monitor for transmission beams from a base station and select a first transmission beam of the first set for communications with the base station. As part of a connection establishment, the base station may provide configuration information that indicates a second set of transmission beams that includes each transmission beam of the first set of transmission beams and at least an additional transmission beam. In some cases, the additional transmission beam may be mapped to a first RACH resource that also corresponds to a first transmission beam of the first set of transmission beams.

摘要: Methods are provided for configuring an initial CORESET and associated search space during beam management. A base station (BS) receives measurements of at least one downlink reference signal (RS) from a User Equipment (UE), wherein each of the at least one downlink RS is associated with a transmit beam. The BS selects, based on the received measurements, a transmit beam for transmitting on resources of an initial time and frequency control resource set (CORESET), wherein the initial CORESET schedules unicast Physical Downlink Data Channel (PDSCH) for the UE, wherein the initial CORESET is identified during initial access of the UE to the BS. The BS transmits information relating to the initial CORESET on the selected beam in a Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (MAC-CE), wherein the information is transmitted using a combination of bits in the MAC-CE, the bits configured for indicating CORESETs.
