    Abstract: A multilayer film includes a substrate; a first magnetic layer disposed on the substrate and a second magnetic layer disposed on the first magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes Fe(50-80)N(10-20)B(1-20)M(0-10), wherein M is Si, Ta, Zr, Ti, Co, or a combination thereof. The second magnetic layer includes Fe(50-90)N(10-50) or Fe(60-90)N(1-10)Ta(5-30). The multilayer magnetic film has, over a frequency range of 50 MHz to 10 GHz, a magnetic permeability of greater than or equal to 1800 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.3 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; and a cutoff frequency of greater than or equal to 1 GHz, or greater than or equal to 2 GHz.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a Co2Z-type ferrite comprises oxides of at least Me, Co, Mo, Li, and Fe; wherein Me is at least one of Ba or Sr. In another aspect, the Co2Z-type ferrite comprises a Z-type hexaferrite an amount of lithium molybdate. In another aspect, the Co2Z-type ferrite has a formula Li2MoO4.BaxSr3-xCo2+y−zMe′yMe″zFe24-2y-mO41, wherein Me′ is at least one of Ti, Mo, Ru, Ir, Zr, or Sn; Me″ is at least one of Zn, Mn, or Mg; x is 0 to 3; y is 0 to 1.8; z is 0 to 1.8; and m is −4 to 4. In yet another aspect, a method of making a Co2Z-type ferrite comprises milling an initial Co2Z-type ferrite and Li2MoO4 to form a mixed ferrite; and calcining the mixed ferrite to form the Co2Z-type ferrite.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a multiphase ferrite comprises a Co2W phase that is optionally doped with Ru; a CFO phase having the formula Mer“Co1−rFe2+zO4, wherein Me” is at least one of Ni, Zn, or Mg, r is 0 to 0.5, and z is −0.5 to 6 0.5; and a CoRu-BaM phase having the formula BaCox+yRuyFe12−(2/3)x−2yO19, wherein x is 0 to 2, y is 0.01 to 2; and the Ba can be partially replaced by at least one of Sr or Ca. In another aspect, a composite can comprise a polymer and the multiphase ferrite. In yet another aspect, a method of making a multiphase ferrite can comprise mixing and grinding a CoRu-BaM phase ferrite and a CFO phase ferrite to form a mixture; and sintering the mixture in an oxygen atmosphere to form the multiphase ferrite.

    Abstract: A magneto-dielectric material operable between a minimum frequency and a maximum frequency, having: a plurality of layers that alternate between a dielectric material and a ferromagnetic material, lowermost and uppermost layers of the plurality of layers each being a dielectric material; each layer of the plurality of ferromagnetic material layers having a thickness equal to or greater than 1/15th a skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency, and equal to or less than ⅕th the skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency; each layer of the plurality of dielectric material layers having a thickness and a dielectric constant that provides a dielectric withstand voltage across the respective thickness of equal to or greater than 150 Volts peak and equal to or less than 1,500 Volts peak; and, the plurality of layers having an overall thickness equal to or less than one wavelength of the minimum frequency in the plurality of layers.

In another aspect, an article comprises the ferrite composition. In yet another aspect, method of making the ferrite composition comprises mixing ferrite precursor compounds comprising Fe, Ba, Co, and Ru; and sintering the ferrite precursor compounds in an oxygen atmosphere to form the Ru—Co2Z ferrite.

    Abstract: A magnetic fiber comprises a core comprising a spinel ferrite of formula Me1-xMxFeyO4, wherein Me is Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, or a combination thereof, x=0 to 0.25, and y=1.5 to 2.5, wherein the core is solid or at least partially hollow; and a shell at least partially surrounding the core, and comprising a Me1-xMxFey alloy, wherein when the core is solid with Me=Ni and x=0 the magnetic fiber has a diameter of greater than 0.3 micrometer. A magneto-dielectric material having a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.03 at 1 GHz comprises a polymer matrix; and a plurality of the magnetic fibers.
