Abstract: A display device may compensate for such changes in characteristics of light emitting elements and transistors in pixels of a display. For example, a driving circuit of a display device may update a lookup table that stores one or more compensation values. Each compensation value may correspond to a characteristic change of a pixel. In some embodiments, the characteristic change of a transistor may be determined based on a sensing signal received from a dummy pixel. Accordingly, a display device may generate a compensation signal based on an actual characteristic change of the transistor in the pixel. The compensation signal may be used by the display device to compensate for pixel characteristic changes that occur over time. For instance, a display device may use such compensation signals to correct input signals (e.g., to generate a corrected output signal) to be applied to one or more pixels of a display.

The driving controller includes an initial threshold voltage map that stores an initial threshold voltage of the first transistor, a delta threshold voltage calculator that calculates a delta threshold voltage of the first transistor over an operating time based on the initial threshold voltage, a weight calculator that calculates a weight based on the initial threshold voltage and the delta threshold voltage, and a compensator that receives the input image signal and outputs an output image signal obtained by compensating for a threshold voltage of the first transistor based on the weight.

The driving controller generates an age compensation value using a sensed age generated based on sensing data of the pixel and an accumulated age generated based on accumulated grayscale values of input image data, generates a final age based on the age compensation value, and compensates a grayscale value of the input image data based on a final age to generate a data signal. The data driver converts the data signal to a data voltage and outputs the data voltage to the display panel.
