Abstract: A wireless charging method and apparatus are provided. Identification information is transmitted, through a near field communication antenna, to a wireless power transmitter for an authentication process of the electronic device, if the electronic device is put on the wireless power transmitter for wireless charging and a near field communication controller is in an initial or idle state. Wireless power is received through a wireless power receiving antenna from the wireless power transmitter after the authentication process. Wireless charging is performed through a wireless charging controller by using the received wireless power. It is determined whether the wireless charging is complete. A charging completion signal is transmitted, through the near field communication antenna, to the wireless power transmitter based on the determining.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for are provided for a wireless power receiver. The method includes receiving power from a wireless power transmitter; converting the power in an alternating current (AC) form into a direct current (DC) form and providing the converted power to a battery of the electronic device; measuring a temperature of a point in the wireless power receiver during reception of the wireless power; maintaining an amount of the converted power at a first level if the temperature is lower than a first temperature; decreasing the amount of the converted power to a second level which is lower than the first level if the amount of the converted power is at the first level and the temperature is higher than or equal to the first temperature; stopping providing the converted power to the battery if the temperature is higher than a second temperature; and transmitting, to the wireless power transmitter, a signal including status information of the wireless power receiver device and control information to control the wireless power transmitter.

Abstract: A wireless charging method and apparatus are provided. A non-contact wireless local communication unit performs non-contact wireless local communication for wireless charging authentication through a non-contact wireless local communication antenna. A wireless power receiver receives supply power from a wireless power transmitter by using a resonator resonating on a resonance frequency equal to that of the wireless power transmitter after the wireless charging authentication. A charging controller performs wireless charging by using the supply power received by the wireless power receiver. One or more switches switch between a connection between the non-contact wireless local communication antenna and the non-contact wireless local communication unit, and a connection between the wireless power receiver and the charging controller.
