Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for improving data channel design by applying transform domain analytics to more reliably extract user data from a signal. In certain embodiments, an apparatus may comprise a channel circuit configured to receive an analog signal at an input of the channel circuit, and sample the analog signal to obtain a set of signal samples. The channel circuit may further apply a filter configured to perform transform domain analysis to the set of signal samples to generate a first subset of samples, the first subset including fewer transitions and having a higher signal to noise ratio (SNR) than the set of signal samples. The channel circuit may detect first bit transform domain representation values from the first subset, and determine channel bit values encoded in the analog signal based on the set of signal samples and using the first bit transform domain representation values detected from the first subset as side information.

Abstract: Two or more video signals from two or more sensors are received and discrete wavelet transformations are performed on the two or more video signals. Temporally stationary and non-stationary background data is determined from the discrete wavelet transformations. Redundancies are determined using the temporally stationary background data, the redundancies indicating an overlap between the two or more video signals Data of the two or more video signals is stored without the redundancies to reduce a storage size.

Abstract: Two or more video signals are received at respective two or more peer-level storage nodes. Discrete wavelet transformations are performed on the two or more video signals via the two or more peer-level storage nodes. Temporally stationary background data is determined from the discrete wavelet transformations at each of the two or more peer-level storage nodes. Redundancies are determined using the temporally stationary background data, the redundancies indicating an overlap between the two or more video signals. A storage size of two or more video signals is reduced by not storing the redundancies on at least one of the peer-level storage nodes.

Abstract: In a device with first and second heads, the second head is held at a radial location over one or more disks via a second actuator that moves the second head. A position error of the second head is read while performing a seek with a first actuator, the first actuator moving the first head over the one or more disks. A mechanical transfer function is determined between the first actuator and the second actuator based on the position error of the second head. The mechanical transfer function is used to provide compensation for the second head via the second actuator in response to subsequent seek of the first actuator.
