Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for receiving, at a first computing device, a request from a user to activate a new media collection, sending, by the first computing device, the request to a server computer for activation of the new media collection, receiving, by the first computing device, confirmation that the new media collection was activated, receiving, at the first computing device, a plurality of content messages associated with the new media collection, receiving, at the first computing device, from the user, a selection of the plurality of content messages to be included in the new media collection, sending, to the server computer, an indication of the selection of the content messages to be included in the new media collection, wherein the server computer causes the selection of content messages to be included in the new media collection and displayed in response to a request from at least a second computing device to view the new media collection.

In one example embodiment, a server computer receives content from client devices, and processes the content to identify content characteristics. Stories are then generated based on the characteristics of the received content, and the stories are communicated to client devices. In certain embodiments, selection at a client device of an individual piece of content within a story may further be used by the system to provide the client device with a sub-story that includes pieces of content sharing content characteristics with the characteristics of the selected image or video.

Abstract: A content suggestion system to generate and cause display of a set of chat suggestions based on messages received at a client device. The content suggestions system is configured to display messages that include message content at a client device, and identify content selected by a user of the client device to be included in a response to the messages received at the client device. The content suggestion system tracks and stores a number of times in which a particular pair of content appear in succession in a chat context, and calculates a ranking of the content among a set of available content. When subsequent messages that include the content of the content pair are displayed at the client device, the content suggestion system retrieves and presents a set of content as suggestions, based on the corresponding ranks.
