    Abstract: A display driver comprises image processing circuitry and driver circuitry. The image processing circuitry is configured to receive spatial distribution information of a physical quantity related to a display panel. The image processing circuitry is further configured to generate output voltage data by processing input pixel data associated with subpixels of the pixel. The drive circuitry is configured to drive the display panel based on the output voltage data.

    Abstract: A display driver for driving a display panel includes a voltage data generator circuit calculating a voltage data value from an input grayscale value and a driver circuitry driving the display panel in response to the voltage data value. The voltage data generator circuit includes a basic control point data storage circuit storing therein basic control point data specifying a basic correspondence relationship between the input grayscale value and the voltage data value, a correction data memory storing correction data for each of the pixel circuits, a control point calculation circuit and a data correction circuit. When the voltage data value is calculated for a specific pixel circuit, the control point calculation circuit generates control point data associated with the specific pixel circuit by correcting the basic control point data on the basis of the correction data associated with the specific pixel circuit, and The data correction circuit calculates the voltage data value from the input grayscale value on the basis of the correspondence relationship specified by the control point data associated with the control point data.

    Abstract: A display driver that drives a display panel comprises storage circuitry, color addition processing circuitry, and drive circuitry. The storage circuitry stores F subpixel data acquired from color coordinate data indicating color coordinates of a displayed color in a predetermined color space displayed on the display panel when an R subpixel, a G subpixel, and a B subpixel in each of a plurality of pixels of the display panel are driven with drive signals corresponding to a minimum grayscale value and an F subpixel in each of the plurality of pixels which displays an additional color other than a primary color R, a primary color G, and a primary color B is driven with a drive signal corresponding to a maximum grayscale value. The color addition processing circuitry generates output FRGB data from input RGB data, in response to the F subpixel data stored in the storage circuitry.

Further, the image data may be divided into data streams, compressed and transmitted to from a host device to a display driver of a display device. The display driver decompresses and drives subpixels of the pixels in based on the decompressed data. The display driver updates the subpixels of a display using corrected greyscale values for each subpixel are determined from the decompressed data.

    Abstract: A display driver comprises: subpixel rendering (SPR) circuitry configured to use, in SPR, predetermined regions which fall within two lines of input subpixels of an input image; buffer memory circuitry configured to store first subpixel data for a plurality of first subpixels of the input subpixels, wherein the plurality of the first subpixels each are encompassed in the predetermined regions; and a register configured to store coefficients, wherein the coefficients respectively correspond to shapes of the portions of the first subpixels encompassed in the predetermined regions. The SPR circuitry is configured to calculate second subpixel data for second subpixels of an output image, based on the first subpixel data stored in the buffer memory circuitry and the coefficients stored in the register.
