Abstract: A display driver comprises image processing circuitry and drive circuitry. The image processing circuitry is configured to output display image data representing a display image comprising an effective area to be displayed in a display area of a display panel and an invalid area not to be displayed in the display area. The drive circuitry drives the display panel based on the display image data comprising effective pixel data associated with first pixels included in the effective area and invalid pixel data associated with second pixels included in the invalid area. Effective pixel data associated with first pixels located within a boundary area adjacent to the invalid area is set to first grayscale values. The invalid pixel data associated with second pixels located within an insert area defined in the invalid area is set to second grayscale values comprising a value different from the first grayscale values.

Abstract: A host device divides original data into first to Nth stream data for N being an integer of two or more, generates first to Nth compressed stream data by sequentially compressing the first to Nth stream data with a variable length compression, divides the first to Nth compressed stream data into fixed-length blocks, and sequentially transmits the fixed-length blocks to the display driver. The display driver includes a memory storing therein the fixed-length blocks and a decompression circuitry reading out the fixed-length blocks from the memory. The decompression circuitry includes first to Nth processing circuits. The first to Nth processing circuits each perform a predetermined process on the fixed-length blocks received to generate processed data. The host device sorts the fixed-length blocks so that the fixed-length blocks are supplied in the order in which the first to Nth processing circuits require the fixed-length blocks.

Abstract: A device and method for correcting mura within a display device. The device may include a display driver that includes lookup table circuitry, correction amount calculation circuitry, and mura correction circuitry. The lookup table circuitry is configured to calculate a second grayscale value for a second display brightness value (DBV), the second grayscale value being determined to achieve a brightness level corresponding to a first grayscale value and a first DBV. The correction amount calculation circuitry is configured to calculate a mura correction amount based on a mura correction data for the second grayscale value and the second DBV. Further, the mura correction circuitry is configured to perform a mura correction on input image data by using the mura correction amount.
