A driver includes a dummy stage and one or more additional stages coupled to the dummy stage. The dummy stage includes a first transistor coupled between an input terminal and an output terminal. The first transistor includes two electrodes forming at least a first capacitor to store at least a portion of static electricity received through the input terminal. The one or more additional stages output gate signals, which may be received, for example, by a display device.

A display apparatus includes a display panel comprising a plurality of gate lines connected to a plurality of pixel rows, a plurality of data lines connected to a plurality of a pixel columns, at least one dummy pixel row disposed in a peripheral area surrounding a display area in which the plurality of pixel rows and the plurality of a pixel columns are disposed, and at least one dummy gate line connected to the dummy pixel row and a data driver circuit configured to provide the dummy pixel row with a dummy data signal, the dummy data signal having a level that differs from a data signal of a pixel column adjacent to the dummy pixel row.

A liquid crystal display includes a lower panel, an upper panel, and a liquid crystal layer disposed therebetween. The lower panel includes a pixel electrode including at least one unit pixel electrode. The upper panel includes a common electrode. The unit pixel electrode includes a rhombus-like plate portion, and a plurality of minute branch portions extending therefrom.
