Abstract: An electronic device includes a display panel that operates in a normal mode, a multi-frequency mode, or a refresh mode, a driving controller, and a host generating and outputting a luminance information. In the multi-frequency mode, a display area defined in the display panel is divided into a first display area and a second display area, and the driving controller controls the first display area and the second display area so as to operate at different frequencies. In the normal mode, the driving controller controls the display area so as to operate at a normal frequency. In the refresh mode, the driving controller controls the display area so as to operate at the normal frequency during one frame. When the luminance information changes, the display panel operates in the refresh mode.

Abstract: A display device which includes a display panel that includes a first display area and a second display area, and a driving controller. During a multi-frequency mode, the driving controller drives the first display area by using a first driving frequency and drives the second display area by using a second driving frequency. During the multi-frequency mode, when the second driving frequency changes from a first frequency to a second frequency, the driving controller drives the first display area and the second display area during at least one frame by using a base frequency, drives the first display area and the second display area during at least one second frame by using an intermediate frequency between the base frequency and the second frequency, and then drives the first display area by using the first driving frequency and drives the second display area by using the second frequency.

Abstract: A luminance compensation method of a display device includes a first luminance for a reference grayscale at a first operating frequency and a second luminance for the reference grayscale at a second operating frequency are measured. A first reference value is calculated based on the first luminance and the second luminance, a first duty ratio of the initialization control signal is changed into a second duty ratio depending on a comparison result of the first reference value and a threshold value After the first duty ratio is changed into the second duty ratio, a third luminance for the reference grayscale is measured, and a second reference value is calculated based on the first luminance and the third luminance. A final duty ratio corresponding to the threshold value is calculated depending on a comparison result of the second reference value and the threshold value.

Abstract: Disclosed is a display device including a display panel including a pixel, a scan driver, and a driving controller that controls driving of the scan driver. The scan driver provides the pixel with a first mode scan signal having a first active period and a second active period in a first mode and provides the pixel with a second mode scan signal having a compensation active period in a second mode. The driving controller determines whether an operating frequency of the display device corresponds to one of predetermined compensation frequencies in a variable frequency mode, and operates the scan driver in the first mode or the second mode depending on a determination result of the determining.
