    Abstract: An apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a processor configured to receive a synchronization signal (SS) and identify timing of the SS based on a primary spreading signal (PSS) in the SS, identify tentative secondary spreading signals (SSSs) based on the identified timing, and group the tentative SSSs; a register configured to receive the SS; and a memory configured to store the tentative SSSs for each group of the tentative SSSs; wherein the processor is further configured to cross correlate the tentative SSSs, combine cross correlated outputs with weights by group, determine an SSS as the tentative SSS with a maximum combined cross correlation outputs, and determine a cell identification based on the determined SSS.

    Abstract: A synchronization detection method for new radio (NR) sidelink. In some embodiments, the method includes calculating a first delay compensated input signal, calculating a first correlation value, calculating a first correlation power, calculating a first weighted correlation power, and detecting a synchronization signal. The first delay compensated input signal may be based on an input signal, and an index of a first tap value. The first correlation value may be based on a first candidate sequence and the first delay compensated input signal. The first correlation power may be based on the first correlation value. The first weighted correlation power may be based on a first weighting factor, and the first correlation power. The detecting of the synchronization signal may include using the first weighted correlation power.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for dynamically selecting a beamforming codebook and hierarchically generating beamforming codebooks is provided. According to one embodiment, an apparatus includes a channel estimation processor configured to receive a signal using a current beamforming codebook in a current beam sweeping period; a look-up table configured to store a plurality of beamforming codebooks; a state abstraction processor connected between the channel estimation processor and the look-up table, and configured to determine a codebook index based on a current channel condition as a function of the received signal and the current beamforming codebook, and select one of the plurality of beam sweeping codebooks in the look-up table as the beamforming codebook for the next beam sweeping period based on the codebook index.

    Abstract: A receiver circuit for separating a plurality of layers multiplexed in an orthogonal frequency domain multiplexed (OFDM) signal includes: a descrambling sub-circuit configured to descramble a plurality of signals received on non-adjacent subcarriers of the OFDM signal to generate a plurality of descrambled signals; an inverse fast Fourier transform sub-circuit configured to transform the descrambled signals from a frequency domain to a received signal including a plurality of samples in a time domain; and a layer separation sub-circuit configured to separate the layers multiplexed in the received signal by: defining a first time domain sampling window and a second time domain sampling window in accordance with a size of the inverse fast Fourier transform; extracting one or more first layers from the samples in the first time domain sampling window; and extracting one or more second layers from the samples in the second time domain sampling window.
