Abstract: A server performs a method of controlling the manipulation of a playlist that includes a queue of media items to be played. In the method, a first electronic device is authorized to control the manipulation of the playlist. First geographic information that indicates a geographic location of the first electronic device and second geographic information that indicates a geographic location of a second electronic device are accessed. Based on the first geographic information and the second geographic information, the server determines whether the first and second electronic devices are located within a defined geographic proximity. In response to a determination that the first and second electronic devices are located within the defined geographic proximity, the second electronic device is authorized to manipulate the playlist.

Abstract: A method performed in a network server system of a service provider providing a service comprising media streaming. The method comprises receiving a detection message from a mobile radio device running the service for a user registered with the service provider, wherein the message comprises an indication that the radio device has detected that it is within a predefined geographical area. The method also comprises determining that the predefined geographical area is registered with the service provider and associated with one or more actions. The method also comprises electing an action of the one or more actions. The method also comprises sending an instructions message to the radio device, comprising instructions to modify the service such that the radio device performs the elected action.

Abstract: Systems, devices, apparatuses, components, methods, and techniques for cadence determination and media content selection are provided. An example media-playback device comprises a media-output device that plays media content items, a cadence-acquiring device, and a cadence-based media content selection engine. The cadence-acquiring device includes an accelerometer and a cadence-determination engine configured to determine a cadence based on acceleration data captured by the accelerometer. The cadence-based media content selection engine is configured to identify a media content item based on the cadence determined by the cadence-determining engine and cause the media-output device to playback the identified media content item.
