Abstract:
A method and a system for providing a push service in a wireless communication system adopting an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme or an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) scheme are provided. The method includes when receiving a message from another network or another messaging server, transmitting, at a messaging server, a push service request message to a push server; when a Mobile Station (MS) of which the push service is requested using the push service request message of the messaging server, operates in an awake mode, transmitting, at the push server, a first push deliver message comprising a message designated for the MS, to a Base Station (BS), and when receiving the first push deliver message, transmitting, at the BS, a second push deliver message based on a Media Access Control (MAC) layer comprising the message designated for the MS, to the MS.
Abstract:
A method of operating a Base Station (BS) in a broadband wireless communication system to resume an extended real-time Polling Service (ertPS) is provided. The method of operating the BS includes detecting a codeword received through a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) channel, and upon receiving a CQI CHannel (CQICH) codeword for requesting resumption of an extended real-time Polling Service (ertPS) connection from a Mobile Station (MS), allocating to the MS an uplink resource corresponding to the largest maximum sustainable traffic rate of at least one ertPS connection established to the MS.
Abstract:
A handover method of a Mobile Station (MS) and a wireless mobile communication system are provided. The handover method includes sending a handover request message to a Serving Base Station (BS), receiving a handover response message including handover Target BS information and an entire Cipher-based Message Authentication Code (CMAC) value corresponding to a first number of bits, from the Serving BS in response to the handover request message, storing a partial CMAC value corresponding to a second number of Most Significant Bit (MSB) bits in the entire CMAC value, sending to the Serving BS a handover indication message including the entire CMAC value and information on a Target BS to which the MS has determined to handover, selecting a ranging code using the partial CMAC value, and sending the selected ranging code to the Target BS.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting a Short Message Service (SMS) of a Mobile Station (MS) during an idle mode in a wireless communication system are provided. An MS operation method for supporting an SMS in a wireless communication system includes receiving an SMS message from a Base Station (BS) through a ranging message in an idle mode, upon receiving the SMS message from the BS, starting a timer, while the timer operates, waiting UpLink (UL) resource allocation for transmission of an ACKnowledge (ACK) message about the SMS message, and upon being allocated a UL resource for the ACK message transmission, and transmitting the ACK message using the UL resource.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for handover in a wireless communication system are provided. The handover method includes, when handing over to another Base Station (BS) while being serviced by a serving BS, determining whether there exists data to transmit in an uplink, and, when the data to transmit in the uplink exists, requesting bandwidth from the serving BS before commencing a network re-entry to a target BS for the handover.
