Abstract: A method of manufacturing a needle shaped body includes forming on a surface of a substrate a needle shaped portion having a bottomed hole that extends from a tip to the substrate, contacting the tip of the needle shaped portion with a surface of a liquid in an atmosphere at a first pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, increasing the first pressure to a second pressure while the tip is in contact with the surface of the liquid such that the liquid is filled into the bottomed hole, and freeze-drying the liquid filled in the bottomed hole.
