The controller discriminates whether an activation instruction of the scanning job is made by the operation device or from an outside in cases where a request for processing data of the scanning job by the compressing/expanding devices is made when the data of the external job is being currently compressed or expanded by the compressing/expanding devices, and controls the execution of the external job and the scanning job by the compressing/expanding devices depending on the discrimination result.

The image processing apparatus includes a user operation data retaining section for retaining user operation data in which contents of user's operation performed by a user is recorded, an input section having a help key for instructing start of execution of an online support function, and a support data retaining section for retaining information about a support connecting destination to be connected in the online support.
