The movable member includes a rotation shaft member, a first member which is engaged with the rotation shaft member at one end portion, a second member which is engaged with the rotation shaft member at the other end portion, a first guide portion, and a second guide portion. The apparatus further includes a first swingable supporting member for rotatably supporting the movable member at the one end portion; a second swingable supporting member for rotatably supporting the movable member at the other end portion; an urging portion for urging the movable member toward the image bearing member; a first preventing member for preventing movement of the first member; and a second preventing member for preventing movement of the second member.

摘要： A developing device used with an image forming apparatus has a driving shaft with a rotating force applying portion, and a movable member on which the developing device is mountable. The developing device includes a developing roller and a coupling member for transmitting a rotating force to the developing roller. The coupling member includes a rotating force receiving portion and a rotating force transmitting portion for transmitting a force received through the rotating force receiving portion to the developing roller. The coupling member can be in a rotational force transmitting angular position, a pre-engagement angular position, and a disengaging angular position. In response to movement of the movable member the coupling member moves from the pre-engagement angular position to the rotational force transmitting angular position, and by moving from the rotational force transmitting angular position to the disengaging angular position the coupling member is disengaged from the driving shaft.

摘要： A developing device is usable with an electrophotographic image forming apparatus including a shaft and a rotary unit mounting the device. When mounted, the device is movable perpendicular to a shaft axial direction in response to movement of the rotary unit and the shaft is not movable in that direction. The device includes a developing roller that contacts and separates from a drum in response to movement of the rotary unit, and a coupler transmitting a rotating force to the roller. The coupler includes a portion engaging the shaft to receive a rotating force and a portion transmitting the received rotating force to the roller. The coupler takes a first position for transmitting the rotational force to the roller, a position before the coupler engages the shaft and is inclined away from the first position, and a position for the disengagement of the coupler and the shaft.

摘要： A color electrophotographic image forming apparatus which simplifies a configuration in which a rotary is rotated to change over respective developing devices to a development position to reduce the costs and save the space, and which simplifies the changeover operation to reduce an operating time. The image forming apparatus sequentially moves and changes over the respective developing devices supported by the rotary to the development position which faces a photosensitive drum by the rotation of the rotary. The rotary is rotated to move the developing devices. A cam is rotated integrally with the rotary, and thereby abutment portions of the cam are abutted against a regulating rotatable member so that the developing devices are spaced from a photosensitive drum. In a state in which the developing devices are abutted against the photosensitive drum, the cam is spaced from the regulating rotatable member by recesses of the cam.

摘要： An electrophotographic photosensitive drum supporting apparatus for rotatably supporting a photosensitive drum includes a first supporting member having a first hole for supporting one end of the drum, and first and second surfaces on one side and the other side of the first supporting member relative to an imaginary plane passing through the axis of the drum, respectively. The first and second surfaces are inclined with respect to the plane so as to contact with the drum and are provided on the inner surface of the first hole. The apparatus also includes a second supporting member having a second hole for supporting the other end of the drum, and a third and a fourth surfaces on one side and the other side of the second supporting member relative to the plane, respectively. The third and fourth surfaces are inclined with respect to the plane so as to contact with the drum and are provided on the inner surface of the second hole. The apparatus also includes a plurality of process members provided in contact with the drum. The direction of the resultant force of a force acting on the drum by the plurality of process members is a direction in which the drum is urged against the first and second inclined surfaces and against the third and fourth inclined surfaces.
