摘要: By improving a metal gasket having a corrugated portion which is advantageous in sealing property, a non-asbestos gasket in which the sealing property is further improved is provided. A non-asbestos gasket has a three-layer structured sealing portion S configured by: a core layer 1A which is made of a plate of a metal, and which is formed into a concentric circle-like corrugated shape; and surface layers 2, 3 which are made of expanded graphite, and which are stacked on the front and back faces of the core layer, respectively. In an outer circumferential end of the sealing portion S, the core layer 1A is protruded from the front and back surface layers 2, 3 toward an outer diameter side. In an inner circumferential end of the sealing portion S, the front and back surface layers 2, 3 are protruded from the core layer 1A toward an inner diameter side, thereby covering the core layer 1A.

摘要: A vortex gasket for automotive exhaust system, preferably used with a special flange having a conical seal surface, is formed by spirally overlaying a metal hoop (2) of flat strip, and an inorganic filler (3) of tape form, and annularly spot welding a winding start portion (2a) and a winding end portion (2b) of the hoop (2) to itself. The tape form of the inorganic filler is wider than the flat strip of the metal hoop so that edges of the inorganic filler form seal contact surfaces spaced beyond edges of the metal hoop. When an external force is applied in the axial direction, slipping occurs between the hoop (2) and the filler (3), and the gasket is telescopically deformed in the axial direction, so that the seal contact surfaces 1a, 1b, at sides of the gasket, are formed in a conical shape.

摘要: The packing according to the present invention is composed of a string-like body formed of an elongated tape-like packing material having at least one layer is repeatedly folded in direction at a right angle to the longitudinal direction thereof in a zigzag manner with peak portions and valley portions alternately formed. According to the packing, the string-like body cut into a predetermined length according to the diameter of a shaft with which it is to be used may be wound on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft with the width or thickness direction of the string-like body directed in the radial direction of the shaft. Thus, the packing is versatile with respect to the shaft diameter. The packing itself produces no slip in the axial direction of a shaft. This prevents the packing from protruding, thus eliminating stress release due to a decrease in volume. The packing is used with the string-like body folded in the three-dimensional directions. Accordingly, the shaft-following properties of the packing at the time when the same is worn, are satisfactory and the decrease in sealing properties is restrained.

摘要: A filler material for spiral gaskets has: 36.5 weight percent or more fibrous material, composed of 5 to 20 weight percent ceramic fibers, 13.5 to 25 weight percent sepiolite and 1 to 10 weight percent organic fibers; 59 weight percent or less inorganic powder; and 1 to 10 weight percent organic polymeric binder. The filler material of the present invention may be used as a substitute for conventional asbestos filler material in spiral gaskets and is superior to asbestos filler material in heat resistance.

摘要: An automobile instrument panel has a meter housing for supporting meters and various control switches. The switches are operatively coupled to respective manipulatable switch knobs which are grouped into two groups and mounted on the opposite lateral portion of the gauge covering. Each group of the switch knobs are arranged one above the other in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the instrument panel and are supported for movement in a plane generally perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the steering wheel for controlling the associated switches.

摘要: Purine-arabinosides and a method for making purine-arabinosides are disclosed. The method comprises contacting an arabinose donor and a purine source in the presence of an effective amount of enzyme produced by a bacterium and capable of transarabinosylation from the arabinose donor to the purine source, whereby a 9-(.beta.-D-arabinofuranosyl)-purine is produced.
