摘要： A fixing device including: a heated fixing member; a pressure member to form a nip portion between the pressure member and the fixing member; first blowing unit and second blowing unit both located close to an outlet of the nip portion and separate the recording medium from the fixing member by blowing air to the recording medium, wherein a velocity of the air discharged from the first unit is higher than that of the air discharged from the second unit, whereas a volume of the air discharged from the first unit is smaller than that of the air discharged from the second unit; and the first unit starts discharging air before a leading edge of the recording medium reaches the outlet of the nip portion, whereas the second unit starts discharging air after the leading edge of the recording medium has passed through the outlet of the nip portion.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device in which a width of a slide member is larger than a width of a pressurizing belt while both ends of the slide member are positioned outside of both ends of the pressurizing belt. The above-structured slide member makes it possible to prevent lubricant on the slide member from leaking out of the ends of the slide member and coming around the inner surface of the slide member, and thereby to prevent a pressing member beneath the slide member from swelling, resulting in avoidance of wrinkle generation on recording materials.

摘要： This fixing device has a fixing portion coming into contact with one face of a sheet, a plurality of drive portions coming into contact with the other face of the sheet to nip the sheet with the fixing portion, and a control portion for driving a plurality of the drive portions. The drive portions are placed in a direction orthogonal to a transportation direction of the sheet. The control portion controls driving of the drive portions independently of each other so that a speed difference may be imparted to the transportation speed of the sheet in the direction orthogonal to the transportation direction of the sheet. Thereby, it becomes possible to stabilize passing posture of the sheet S, and therefore to decrease wrinkling and image failure attributed to the passing posture of the sheet.

The image forming apparatus further has a worm shaft which is parallel to the transportation path of the recording sheet with one end being connected to a driving source, a worm wheel being attached to each image holding component and engaging with a corresponding worm, a clutch set to the worm shaft between the image holding component for black and an image holding component next to the image holding component for black, with the engagement and disengagement of the clutch being performed in synchronization with a switching operation to switch between the monochrome mode and the full-color mode, a rotational position detection unit for detecting a rotational position of the worm wheel set on the image holding component for black, and a storage unit for storing a rotational position of the worm wheels set on the image holding components when the clutch is disengaged. The clutch control unit engages the clutch when the rotational position detected by the rotational position detection unit is equal to the rotational position stored in the storage unit.

摘要： In order to provide a driving mechanism for a photosensitive drum which is capable of reducing deformation of the shaft of the photosensitive drum caused by loads when transmitting a driving force, a drive transmission course 51 is diverged to at least two courses in a drive transmission system 42 for transmitting the drive force from a drive motor 41 to the photosensitive drum 25. Specifically, the last stage of the drive transmission course 51 is engaged with a passive member 47 provided to the drum shaft 25a at two or more points to connect and link the drive force, thereby diverging the directions of loads to several directions, by which irregular movements of the photosensitive drum or vibration caused by the deformation of the shaft is eliminated.
