摘要: This fixing device has a fixing portion coming into contact with one face of a sheet, a plurality of drive portions coming into contact with the other face of the sheet to nip the sheet with the fixing portion, and a control portion for driving a plurality of the drive portions. The drive portions are placed in a direction orthogonal to a transportation direction of the sheet. The control portion controls driving of the drive portions independently of each other so that a speed difference may be imparted to the transportation speed of the sheet in the direction orthogonal to the transportation direction of the sheet. Thereby, it becomes possible to stabilize passing posture of the sheet S, and therefore to decrease wrinkling and image failure attributed to the passing posture of the sheet.

摘要: A belt-type fixing device is provided that achieves reduction in time required between start of rotation of a fixing belt upon reception of print starting signal in printing-standby status and recovery of a specified fixation temperature in a fixing nip.The belt-type fixing device of the invention has an endless-sheet-like fixing belt to be heated, a nip forming member positioned inside the fixing belt, a rotatable pressurizing roller which is in pressure contact with the nip forming member with the fixing belt interposed between and in which part in contact with the fixing belt forms a fixing nip, and a heater lamp for heating the fixing belt which lamp is provided in a position inside the fixing belt and away from the fixing nip, and the fixing nip is in a position higher than the heater lamp.

摘要: A fixing device has a heating roller and a pressure belt. Surface hardness of the pressure belt is higher than surface hardness of the heating roller. An overall length of the pressure belt is longer than an overall length of a rubber layer of the heating roller. Both ends of the pressure belt are positioned outside both ends of the rubber layer of the heating roller. Thereby, the heating roller is improved in service life, so that the fixing device as a whole is improved in service life.

摘要: A fixing device for an image forming apparatus having low heat losses. The fixing device consists of a fixing roller and a compression roller for abutting upon it under pressure. The fixing roller and compression roller have a release layer each formed on the surface of a core metal formed of an aluminum hollow cylinder. The release layer on the surface of the fixing roller is formed of a composite material of metallic powder of good thermal conductive material such as nickel, and fluorine resin such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and polyphenylene alkoxyether (PFA), and has spectral emissivity at a wavelength of 5 to 10 .mu.m being within a range of 0.1 to 0.65. The compression roller is provided with a release layer formed of fluorine resin like the conventional one, or the same material as the release layer on the surface of the aforesaid fixing roller, having lower spectral emissivity.

摘要: A belt-type fixing device is provided by which driving torque for a fixing belt can be reduced.The belt-type fixing device has the fixing belt wound around a heating roller and around a nip forming member, and has a pressurizing roller that is in pressure contact with the nip forming member with the fixing belt interposed between. A surface of the nip forming member that is opposite to the pressurizing roller is configured as a curved surface extending along an outer circumferential surface of the pressurizing roller so that a pressure distribution in a fixing nip is made generally flat with respect to a paper feeding direction. By rotational drive of the pressurizing roller, the fixing belt is rotated while being slid on the nip forming member. Contact area between the fixing belt and the nip forming member outside the fixing nip is smaller on nip entrance side than on nip exit side.
