    Abstract: A control circuit for an induction heating device comprises a D.C. power supply, referenced to a ground connection and configured to supply power to the induction heating device. A switching device is configured to be selectively activated to control the induction heating device. The switching device is connected on one end to the ground connection. A resonant load is disposed between the D.C. power supply and the switching device, the resonant load comprises a capacitor and an inductor connected in a parallel configuration. At least one rectifying device is disposed in series with the resonant load and the switching device. The switching device is configured to control current from the D.C. power supply through the resonant load.

    Abstract: An induction cooking apparatus including a coil beam assembly, an inverter assembly, and a heatsink. The coil beam assembly includes one or more induction coils. The inverter assembly includes a first circuit board that is electrically connected to the induction coil(s) such that the inverter assembly is configured to supply electricity to the induction coil(s). The heatsink has a beam-like structure and is attached to both the coil beam assembly and the inverter assembly. The heatsink is positioned above the inverter assembly and below the coil beam assembly such that the heatsink is the sole support structure for the inverter assembly. A method for assembling the induction cooking apparatus is also described.

    Abstract: A cooking article detection system for an induction cooktop having a first power-delivery induction coil includes a first detector coil overlying the first power-delivery induction coil and including a first conductive element revolving continuously around a centroid in a first tangential direction to define a shape of the first coil that extends in a first linear direction and a second linear direction along a plane and a second detector coil overlying the first power-delivery coil and including a second conductive element connected with the first detector coils and revolving continuously around a centroid in a second tangential direction, opposite the first tangential direction. The second detector coil is linearly arranged with the first detector coil and is spaced apart therefrom in the second linear direction. A controller drives the first and second detection coils, simultaneously, with a low-voltage, high frequency detection signal, and measures a voltage across the first and second detection coils to identify a cooking article on the induction cooktop.

    Abstract: An induction heating device comprises a D.C. power supply referenced to a ground connection. The D.C. power supply is configured to supply power to the induction heating device and comprises a voltage rectifier configured to rectify an input voltage into a direct current and output the D.C. voltage to a D.C. bus and a ground connection. The device further comprises a plurality of resonant loads arranged in a matrix comprising a plurality of columns and a plurality of rows. Each of the resonant loads is connected at a first end to a row and at a second end to a column. A plurality of first switching devices are in connection with each of the columns between the D.C. bus and at least one of the resonant loads. A plurality of second switching devices are in connection with each of the rows between the resonant loads and the ground connection.

    Abstract: A printed circuit board including (a) a heat sink projecting from a first primary surface and defining a first section and a second section of the first primary surface, (b) one or more rectifier components, (c) a smoothing component disposed at the first section in electrical communication with the one or more rectifier components, (d) inverter components in electrical communication with the one or more rectifier components and the smoothing component, the inverter components including (i) at least one capacitor and at least one connector for an induction coil both disposed at the second section and (ii) a controllable solid-state switching device functionally operable with the at least one capacitor and the at least one connector disposed at a second primary surface of the printed circuit board or second section of the first primary surface.
