    摘要: Metal strip close to its final dimensions is cast using a strip-casting apparatus provided with a melt-holding vessel and a conveyor belt, in which a metal melt, in particular steel, flows out of a casting nozzle of a closable pouring chamber which can be put under vacuum and is connected via a siphon to a main chamber which can be put under pressure. The casting nozzle is inclined by about 45.degree. and is of trumpet-like configuration in the region of the orifice on the inside of the nozzle wall remote from the main chamber. Additionally, a shut-off element which can be opened in a slit-shaped manner is provided near the orifice of the casting nozzle.

    摘要: A method of continuous casting of ingots having a cross section with a high width to height or thickness ratio includes the steps of using a mold with a corresponding cross section and a casting pipe with bottom or near-bottom outlets and having laterally a minimum distance from the wall of the mold; preheating the casting pipe prior to casting to a temperature being at least approximately similar to the temperature of the metal later to be poured into the mold; initially closing the bottom outlet of the mold prior to startup; pouring molten metal into the mold for filling the mold up to a particular level while continuing heating the casting pipe; commencing withdrawal of an ingot from the mold along a curved path when the level of molten metal in the mold has reached the level of the outlet or outlets of the casting pipe.

    摘要: An immersion nozzle for pouring molten metal, especially steel, from a pouring vessel into a mold of a continuous casting machine. The nozzle includes a substantially tubular upper part that can be attached to the pouring vessel and a lower part that has a broad side significantly larger than its narrow side at the opening end. The upper part has, at the end facing the lower part, a flared section that encircles the entry area of the lower part. A seal is provided between the upper part and the entry area of the lower part. The lower part has a support in the entry area. Holding elements are provided so as to touch the support of the lower part and connect the lower part to the upper part.

    摘要: Disclosed is a process and apparatus for generating high-silicon foundry pig iron. In the process: a) silicon oxides and iron-carbon metals are charged in a shaft furnace; b) the charge is kept under a highly reducing atmosphere; c) the material column is guided annularly at least in the vicinity of the vessel bottom and d) exposed to the radiation heat of a heat source located in the free space in the outlet region of the annular material column above the furnace base. The furnace has a centrally arranged electrode, which projects into the furnace vessel and is guided up to the vicinity of the base, and a counterelectrode arranged in the base of the furnace vessel. The electrode projecting into the vessel is enclosed by a coaxially guided sleeve whose outer diameter “d” is in a ratio to the inner diameter “D” of the furnace vessel such that d;D is about 1:4. The sleeve mouth is at a distance “a” from the base of the furnace vessel such that 2×d≦a≦4×d.
