    摘要: A mold blocking member for use in a vent bore of a mold for the manufacture of rubber products is provided. The mold blocking member has a tubular hollow body having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end has a cap with an inner portion surrounded by a recessed annular portion, wherein the inner portion is connected to the recessed annular portion by a sidewall, wherein the sidewall has one or more slots therein. The slots opening has a width dimension in the range of about 0.1 mm to about 0.6 mm and a thickness in the range of about 0.03 mm to about 0.15 mm. It is preferred that the inner portion is flat and recessed with respect to the outer rim of the first end.

    摘要: A fill tube assembly is for a casting mold. The fill tube assembly includes a fill tube having a tubular member with a receiving end, a mold-engaging end and an intermediate portion. The mold-engaging end has a tapered flange radially extending therefrom, the remainder of the tubular member has a substantially uniform cross-section. A clamping assembly is structured to maintain a substantially leakproof seal at the fill tube, casting mold interface while accommodating dimensional variations. The clamping assembly includes a gasket, a load ring, a clamping plate and a pre-load gap between the clamping plate and the casting mold and optionally includes a dimensional compensating ring. When tightened, the clamping plate biases the load ring against the flange thereby distributing a uniform load against the casting mold, compressing the gasket therebetween while narrowing the pre-load gap to accommodate dimensional variations. A method of use is also disclosed.

The casting nozzle is inclined by about 45.degree. and is of trumpet-like configuration in the region of the orifice on the inside of the nozzle wall remote from the main chamber. Additionally, a shut-off element which can be opened in a slit-shaped manner is provided near the orifice of the casting nozzle.

    摘要: An electromagnetic valve for controlling the flow of molten, magnetic material is provided, which comprises an induction coil for generating a magnetic field in response to an applied alternating electrical current, a housing, and a refractory composite nozzle. The nozzle is comprised of an inner sleeve composed of an erosion resistant refractory material (e.g., a zirconia ceramic) through which molten, magnetic metal flows, a refractory outer shell, and an intermediate compressible refractory material, e.g., unset, high alumina, thermosetting mortar. The compressible refractory material is sandwiched between the inner sleeve and outer shell, and absorbs differential expansion stresses that develop within the nozzle due to extreme thermal gradients. The sandwiched layer of compressible refractory material prevents destructive cracks from developing in the refractory outer shell.

    摘要: An immersion nozzle includes an immersion zone inserted into a long-thin mold cavity of a mold. A discharge channel extends through the nozzle for discharging molten metal into the mold cavity. The discharge channel includes an inlet region, an outlet region including a portion passing through the immersion zone, and a pool-forming chamber between the inlet region and the outlet region at a location adjacent the immersion zone. The portion of the outlet region of the discharge channel that extends through the immersion zone is widened and has a configuration to approximate the cross-sectional configuration of the mold cavity. The outlet region has, extending from the chamber in a direction of material flow, a configure approximately corresponding to the configuration of the portion of the outlet region through the immersion zone.

    摘要: A slag control shape is releasably mounted on a cover for a molten metal vessel. An actuator is connected to a slag control shape release member to retract the release member from a first position engaged with the slag control shape to a second position separated from the slag control shape to allow the slag control shape to freely drop into the molten metal receptacle. The actuating end of the actuator is located at an easily accessible operator position for remote actuation of the release member. In another embodiment, one end of a cable wound in a plurality of turns about a rotatable shaft mounted in a reel is attached to the slag control shape. A spring biasingly engages the shaft to control the rate of rotation of the shaft and thereby the rate of payout of the cable and the rate of descent of the slag control shape into the molten metal vessel. In another embodiment, the release member is mounted on a lid removably mountable in a bore in the cover and the actuator is mounted on the cover and releasibly connected to the release member. In yet another embodiment, the release member is mounted on a base which is in turn removably mounted in the bore in the cover. The hanger of a slag control shape extends through an aperture in the base and is engaged by the release member on the base.

    摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus and method for regulating the flow rate of a liquid furnace product. The apparatus comprises a heat exchange jacket (10) surrounding a conduit (9) through which liquid furnace products flow. The heat exchange jacket (11) removes sufficient heat from the conduit and product flowing therein to cause a shell of solidified product to form on the internal surface of the conduit. The flow rate in the conduit is controlled by regulating the coolant flow through the heat exchange jacket and consequent shell thickness.
