    Abstract: An electroencephalography (EEG) headset can include an arrangement of straps that provides the ability to adjust the size and shape of the headset once disposed on a user's head. In some implementations, the headset can include a first elastic strap extending from a first side of the headset to a second side of the headset along a topside of the headset. The headset can also include a second strap including at least one inelastic portion and at least one elastic portion, at least one EEG electrode coupled to the second strap, a third elastic strap extending from the first side of the headset to the second side of the headset along an underside of the headset, and a plurality of connectors that couple the elastic first strap, the second strap, or the third elastic strap.

    Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a stabilization assembly for supporting a device on a human head, including: a first frame having an annular shape with a first diameter; and a second frame having an annular shape with a second diameter, the second diameter being less than the first diameter. The second frame is concentric with the first frame and is mechanically coupled to the first frame by a pivot support that permits rotation of the second frame relative to the first frame. A tripod mount is mechanically coupled to the first frame, the tripod mount including legs configured to rest on the human head during use of the stabilization assembly. The stabilization assembly positions the device against the human head during use. The tripod mount includes three legs, each leg having a U-shape. For each leg, ends of the U-shaped leg connect to the first frame.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for a device with improved ambient temperature detection. In some implementations, a device includes a housing that forms an interior space, and the housing includes an exterior surface, a pass-through region that defines a through-hole between the interior space to the exterior surface, and a recess at the exterior surface adjacent to the pass-through hole. The device includes a printed circuit board disposed within the interior space of the plastic housing. The device includes a flexible printed circuit substrate including a first end region that is connected to the printed circuit board that is disposed within the interior space of the housing, a second end region at an opposite end of the flexible printed circuit substrate than the first end region, that is disposed in the recess at the exterior surface of the housing, and a middle region that passes through the through-hole between the first end region and the second end region. The device includes a temperature sensor disposed at the second end region of the flexible printed circuit substrate in the recess at the exterior surface of the housing. The device includes a protective layer that is disposed on at least a portion of the exterior surface of the housing and that covers the recess and the through-hole.

    Abstract: The technology relates to fabricating and employing a sensor unit with a malleable housing to obtain various bio-signals detected while the sensor unit is disposed in the wearer's ear canal. A set of sensor contacts is arranged along an exterior ear-contacting portion of the housing. The malleable material can be compressed for insertion into the ear canal, then automatically expanding to contact the ear canal at multiple points. The sensor contacts are distributed along the exterior of the housing to provide an orientation agnostic configuration. The sensor unit is able to be worn for hours, a day or longer. During wear, the contacts can detect EEG and/or MEG-related signal, such as Alpha waves. Other sensors may be included with the sensor unit to supplement the detection of bio-signals. The obtained signals may be processed on-board or transmitted to a remote device for off-board processing.

    Abstract: A method for analyzing electroencephalogram (EEG) signals is disclosed. Information associated with two or more options is presented to a user. EEG signals from a sensor coupled to the user are received contemporaneously to the user receiving information associated with the two or more options. The EEG signals are processed in real time to determine which one of the options was selected by the user. In response to determining which one of the options was selected by the user, an action from one or more possible actions associated with the information presented to the user is selected. An output associated with the selected action is then generated.
