Abstract:
A system and method for transmitting device status information from a first internal network, through a first internal network firewall, over an external communications network and to a second network wherein the first internal network includes a marking device and a computing device having a memory. Usage data is collected from the marking device and compared to previously stored usage data to determine the validity of the collected usage data to provide a comparison result. The comparison result is used to determine whether the collected usage data can be transmitted from the first internal network, through the firewall, and through the external communications network to the second network.
Abstract:
A method for establishing a network connection between a mobile device and a network device includes determining whether the mobile device has previously established a network connection with the network device, and determining whether the mobile device and the network device can connect using information corresponding to a previously established network connection. If the mobile device has not previously established a network connection with the network device or if the mobile device and the network device cannot connect using above information, the method includes determining whether one or more records of network connections corresponding to the network device exist, and determining if the mobile device and the network device can connect using information included in those records. If the mobile device and the network device can connect using the above information or records, the transmitter component of the mobile device establishes a new network connection with the network device.
Abstract:
A method for pre-rendering a print job to a print-ready document format in a print system comprising a plurality of print devices. The method may include receiving a print job from a user via a mobile electronic device and predicting at least one print device in the print system that the user may use for printing the print job. The prediction is based on at least one of the following: user activity data relating to printing in the print system by the user, print device information relating to the plurality of print devices, user information received from the mobile electronic device, or a plurality of print job criteria provided by the user. The method may further include recommending at least one print-ready document format that the at least one print device may use for printing the print job, and pre-rendering the print job to the recommended at least one print-ready document format.
Abstract:
A user interface receives instructions to retrieve a remote electronic document maintained within a print queue of an external server. A pause-and-reset print menu option is displayed on the user interface. Based on the user interface receiving selection of the pause-and-reset print menu option, printing the remote electronic document is begun and paused, to print a partially printed document. An inquiry regarding whether the partially printed document is acceptable is displayed on the user interface. Based on the user interface receiving input that the partially printed document is acceptable, the remainder of the remote electronic document is printed. Based on the user interface receiving input that the partially printed document is unacceptable, printing the remainder of the remote electronic document is canceled, and the print queue of the external server is reset to indicate that the remote electronic document has not been printed.
Abstract:
A method for printing a document from a mobile device includes identifying a document to be printed and generating a notification comprising a selection of at least one candidate print device that may be selected for printing. The notification may be generated by analyzing, by one or more mobile device applications, the document to be printed to identify a document context including a security level of the identified document; using data sensed by one or more mobile device sensors to identify a user context including at least a current geographical location of the user; using the user context to detect a print device near the geographical location of the user; and accessing a rule set to determine if the identified document can be printed on the detected print device based on the security level of the identified document; and causing a user interface to output the notification.
