An IC memory card (11) has a mode change switch (18) for switching operation modes of a semiconductor component in the vicinity of an end side opposite the external connection terminals (17a to 17i). A controller LSI (24) detects the status of the mode change switch (18) and switches operation modes according to the detected status.

A resist film is formed on the surface of a magnetic layer on a substrate. A die is overlaid on the surface of the magnetic layer. The die includes magnetic and non-magnetic regions alternately arranged on a flat surface around a groove. The resist film is embossed so that the flat surface drives the resist film into the groove of the die. The resist film within the groove gets solidified while the die is kept in contact with the magnetic layer. A magnetic field is applied to the die in contact with the magnetic layer. A magnetic field leaked out of the magnetic regions acts on the magnetic layer. Magnetic information is thus written into the magnetic layer based on the leaked magnetic field. A recording track can be established in the magnetic layer based on the solidified resist film.

A compact memory card adapter is provided, which improves connection reliability with an antenna circuit and ensures communication distance when a memory card with a non-contact communication function is inserted therein. The adapter is formed with a base made of an electrical insulating material, a plurality of contacts arranged on an inner surface of the base so as to electrically contact an I/O connecting terminal and an antenna connecting terminal of the memory card inserted in the adapter, and an antenna circuit formed on an outer surface of the base. The contact connectable to the antenna connecting terminal of the memory card has a spring piece at its one end, which elastically contacts the antenna connecting terminal of the memory card, and the other end inserted into a through hole formed in the base to make an electrical connection with the antenna circuit.

[Problem]To obtain a fiber-treating agent and polyester staple fibers having excellent processability during the processing of polyester staple fibers with high-pressure water-jets, and excellent nonwoven fabric hydrophilicity after the high-pressure water-jet process. [Means of Solution]The present invention provides a fiber-treating agent comprising a component A, which is a polyester compound produced by carrying out a condensation polymerization of an alkylene glycol, a polyalkylene glycol, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of aromatic dicarboxylic acids, C4-22 aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, and their ester-forming derivatives; a component B, which is a polyester compound produced by carrying out a condensation polymerization of a polyoxyalkylene monol, an alkylene glycol, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of aromatic dicarboxylic acids and their ester-forming derivatives; and a component C, which is a C4-6 alkyl phosphate salt; and is characterized by components A, B, and C being blended in specific ratios. Also provided are polyester staple fibers treated with the treating agent, and a nonwoven fabric manufactured by processing the polyester staple fibers with high-pressure water jets.

A production method of 2-(5-ethyl-5-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxane-2-yl)-2-methylpropane-1-ol (DOG) which includes a step of acetalizing hydroxypivalaldehyde with trimethylolpropane in a solvent in the presence of an acid catalyst. After the acetalization, the reaction product liquid is neutralized and then heated to dissolve the deposited DOG crystals. Then, the reaction product liquid is cooled to recrystallize DOG. DOG produced in such manner has an adequately large particle size. Therefore, DOG is easy to handle and involves little danger of dust explosion.

An electronic device, a display processing method and a program for displaying a direction and distance of a moving body outside of a displayed range of a map, seen from a certain position on the map and a moving direction of the moving body at a time, are provided. A calculation portion calculates a distance from a current position of a portable device 3 to the destination based on the current position information and position information of the destination included in map data;, a moving direction specifying portion specifies a current moving direction of the portable device; a display processing portion determines a position, size and direction of an arrow on the map based on the current position information of the portable device, position information of the destination, a distance between the destination and the current position, and the moving direction and generates a map image to be displayed.
