摘要： Luggage cases have been provided with expandable sections that permit the luggage case to accommodate varying amounts of the traveler's goods. These systems have included a flaccid textile gusset section, normally closed and surrounded by a zipper. The zipper can be opened fully to permit this gusset to expand. Elastically controlled gussets have also been proposed. The instant invention provides a neat, tailored accordion gusset 4 with crisscrossing elastic ribbons 22 attached to opposite rigid wire frames 8 and 10 of the expandable gusset 4, as well as a tensioned bungee cord 20 attached to the innermost edge of the center seam 26 of the expansion gusset 4. These elastic members 22 are enclosed and sealed from view by the outermost wall 6 of the luggage case 2 and an inner wall 14 defined by an elastic textile such as Spandex or the like. The resulting expansion gusset 4 can be best be built into the main packing compartment door 6 of the luggage case 2 and will expand in response to over-packing of the main packing compartment 18 by expanding the expansion gusset 4 in response to the pressure of the goods against the restoring force of the various elastic members 22.

The sections of the tube case are designed so that a portion or an edge at the open end of the outer case abuts a shoulder on a latch plate or bracket on the other case to both provide a stop when the open ends of the two sections are placed together for carrying an article, and further to properly orient the ends of the two sections so that latches can be readily and simply engaged and latched to lock together the two sections.

摘要： A soft sided insulated container assembly has a first insulated container portion and a second insulated container portion. The second insulated container portion can be collapsed to a flat position, and secured in place. Either of the container portions may have a liner. The liner in the first container portion may be a substantially rigid liner. The assembly may have a lifting member. In one example the second portion may be hingedly mounted to the first portion, and the lifting member may be mounted such that when the assembly is lifted, the hinge is in an up-and-down orientation. In another embodiment, the lifting member may be eccentrically mounted, such that the assembly may possibly sit more comfortably against a carrier's hip. The first container portion may have an auxiliary opening or door, and that door may be more easily opened than the main access of the first insulated container portion.

The upper portion is movable between a folded position, in which the upper sidewall is folded within the lower sidewall such that the upper rim of the upper portion and the top opening thereof is disposed generally adjacent to the upper edge of the lower portion to define an interior compartment of a certain size, and an extended position, in which the upper portion is unfolded and extended upwardly, thereby extending the height of the body and, in turn, the bag creating an interior compartment of greater size. A strap for supporting the body is secured to the upper portion generally adjacent to the upper rim thereof and a releasable coupling for releasably coupling the strap to the lower portion which serves to prevent movement of the upper portion from the folded to the extended position when so coupled and which, upon release thereof, permits extension of the upper portion.

摘要： A collapsible tote bag is provided having a generally rectangular base and side walls extending in a generally vertical direction from the base to define an enclosed area. The side walls are formed of a flexible plastic material and a pair of opposed side walls are respectively provided with first and second handle members along the top edges thereof to facilitate carrying the bag in a first configuration wherein the side walls are fully vertically extended. A third handle is mounted on one of these opposed side walls at a position located approximately halfway between the base and the tops of the first and second handles. The side walls are foldable to a second configuration wherein the first and second handles are positioned adjacent the other side wall of said opposed pair near the base, thereby positioning the third handle at the top of the folded configuration. Fastening means is mounted on the other side wall adjacent the base for securing the first and second handles to the side wall to permit carrying of the bag with the third handle in the folded configuration of the bag.
