摘要： In a single facer including an upper corrugating roll, a lower corrugating roll and a pressure roll, the lower corrugating roll is provided with a plurality of spaced circumferential grooves on the outer peripheral surface extending at right angles to the flutes of the corrugating roll. A plurality of circumferentially spaced bores are drilled in the roll extending in an axial direction and communicating with the bottoms of the aforementioned circumferential grooves. Suction means is disposed at one end surface of the roll for communicating with the bores. The suction means is selectively placed in communication with only those bores which at the time are in an angular position where a corrugated web is to be held in contact with the roll. In one preferred embodiment pressurized gas is placed in communication with selected bores to provide gas therethrough during the period when these selected bores are in an angular position where the corrugated web is to be released from the roll. The roll is formed to provide a hollow central portion and hot fluid is supplied to this central portion. In another preferred embodiment slotted pipes are placed in the bores with the slots in communication with the circumferential grooves.

摘要： A single facer machine for making a corrugated web is provided with a vacuum means for retaining a corrugated medium on one of the corrugating rolls. Said one corrugating roll has a core through which a heated fluid may flow. The core is surrounded by a sleeve which contains peripheral longitudinally extending flutes and valleys meshed with corresponding flutes and valleys on the other corrugating roll. A plurality of suction hoods are juxtaposed to and sealed to the outer periphery of said sleeve.

摘要： An apparatus and related method for forming a single face paperboard web are disclosed. The apparatus of the present invention includes a forming corrugating roll for corrugating flutes on a medium web and a carrier corrugating roll operably connected to the forming corrugating roll for carrying the medium web into contact with a liner web. A bonding nip is defined by the carrier corrugating roll for pressing the liner web into adhering contact with the medium web, thereby forming a single faced web. A steam supplying device, including at least one fluid port in fluid communication with the bonding nip, supplies a low pressure steam against at least one of the liner web and the medium web. The steam supplying device further includes a body having a heated surface facing one of the liner and the medium webs. A primary channel extends within the body and is in thermal communication with the heated surface. A high pressure steam is supplied to the primary channel for heating the heated surface. A plurality of secondary channels extend within the body and are in fluid communication with the plurality of fluid ports. A low pressure steam is supplied to the secondary channels for release by the plurality of fluid ports within the bonding nip to assist in the rapid gelatinization of glue between the liner and medium webs.

摘要： Herein disclosed is a corrugating machine for forming a single-face corrugated paper web from a pair of webs passing therethrough. The corrugating machine comprises a first corrugating roll and a second corrugating roll parallel to and in meshing engagement with the first corrugating roll, the second corrugating roll carries a web of corrugated paperboard material around a portion of the outer periphery thereof. A floating guide continuously urges the corrugated web against the outer periphery of the second corrugating roll and is automatically self-adjusting for compensating for irregularities in the second corrugating roll and the corrugated web. An adhesive roll is in contact with the corrugated web extending around the second corrugating roll for applying adhesive to the tips of flutes on the corrugated web. A pressure roll carrying a facing web on the outer periphery thereof is in contact with the adhesive covered tips of the corrugated web forming the single-face corrugated web.

摘要： In a sheet corrugating machine used to fabricate corrugated paper board from rolls of sheet stock, the formed sheet is held tightly to the undulating surface of one corrugating roll between the corrugating nip and a liner sheet application nip by a vacuum system within the corrugating roll. The corrugating roll vacuum system comprises apertures through the roll shell within the corrugation valleys. Such apertures communicate with longitudinal conduits disposed about the internal periphery of the roll shell and extended through one axial end of the roll. A stationary, sliding seal vacuum box evacuates only those conduits rotatively passing through the desired arc thereby leaving the roll journals free to simultaneously conduct roll heating steam therethrough.
