摘要： A device manages lines of a kite by being securable to a control bar of a kite and having a line attachment portion. The line attachment portion has a plurality of kite line retainers for detachably retaining lines of the kite. The device is secured to the control bar by an internally cylindrical sleeve having a longitudinal opening. Opposing portions of the sleeve adjacent the longitudinal opening are biased towards each other, and are elastically flexible to allow insertion of the control bar while frictionally retaining the control bar once inserted. The kite line retainers are formed as a slit or a slotted groove in a circumferential direction with respect to the sleeve and formed to frictionally and removably retain a line inserted therein. In one embodiment, a stem extends radially from the sleeve with the line attachment portion residing at the distal end of the stem and the line attachment portion being formed as a longitudinal member perpendicular to the stem. In an alternate embodiment, the kite line retainers for retaining the lines is formed on an outer surface of the sleeve.

摘要： A manually controlled kite reel for controlling and operating one or more kites, and more particularly a kite reel arranged to support one or more line spools. The device provides a handle having an offset axle to rotatably support a drive spindle having a drive bar with a centrally disposed hole to receive the axle of the handle, the drive spindle including a pair of oppositely disposed line-spool-support pins wherein one of said support pins defines a crank arm for rotating the drive spindle. A line guide is provided and formed with the handle as an extended line-guide arm having a plurality of notches disposed therein and arranged so as to be in alignment with the respective positioned line spool on the drive spindle.

摘要： A kite reel device includes an elongate shaft having a reel slidably mounted thereon. An elongate sleeve formed of somewhat flexible, plastic material is loosely positioned around the shaft for relative sliding and rotative movement therebetween. The shaft can also be gripped to prevent rotation of the reel. When the sleeve is tightly gripped and compressed against the shaft, the sleeve serves as a brake for the shaft and the reel thereon. When the reel is shifted to one end of the shaft and the sleeve is loosely gripped, the reel and shaft may be revolved as a unit thereby permitting winding of the reel. In another embodiment of the invention, two reels are slidably mounted on a shaft and permit controlled maneuvering of the kite.

A reel providing a handle is mounted to one side of the frame, while a knob for holding the device is affixed to the other side. Recesses within the frame releasably secure the handle to the frame. A hole in the center of the top side of the frame accommodates the passage of kite string onto the spool. The v-shape of the spool rib outer edges assists in keeping the kite string centered and from getting tangled around the axle. Another embodiment provides a ground anchor, a shoulder harness strap, a digital counter, a multiple gearing selector, and an electric power pickup. At least one replacement spool is also provided.

The string control system includes a reeling device for dispensing an elongate flexible member during use of the flexible member and retracting the flexible member for storage of the flexible member. The device comprises a frame having laterally spaced side portions and longitudinally spaced end portions defining an opening. The end portions extend between the side portions. A spool is provided for winding a length of an elongate flexible member thereon. The spool is positioned in the opening of the frame and is rotatably mounted on the frame. The spool has a pair of flange portions and a central portion mounted between the flange portions. A crank is provided for rotating the spool. Preferably, each of the flange portions of the spool has a hub and at least two guide spokes extending radially outward from the hub.
