Abstract:
A data communication system includes a receiver, a transmitter, an NCU, a control circuit, and a display circuit. In the send or receive mode, the number of remaining sheets or the time for sending or receiving such sheets is calculated and displayed on the display circuit under the control of the control circuit.
Abstract:
An image data transfer system and method enable scan time and transfer time of the image data to be adjusted appropriately without lacking a part of the image data, suitable for low price. A data segmentation device segments the image data from a scan device into high order n bits and low order (N−n) bits, subsequently, transferring the high order n bits toward a data transfer device at the same time when the scan device scans a manuscript, and transferring the low order (N−n) bits toward a memory device. The data transfer device transfers the high order n bits of the image data toward a personal computer at the same time when the scan device scans the manuscript. The memory device stores therein the low order (N−n) bits of the image data temporarily. Furthermore, the data transfer device scans the low order (N−n) bits of the image data from the memory device to transfer toward the personal computer after transfer of the high order n bits.
Abstract:
An improved technique for transmitting facsimile images over a data network is described wherein a remote server is sent information indicative of the average effective information transmission rate. The average information transmission rate is maintained the same at the sending and receiving sides of the network in order to eliminate problems caused by the bursty nature of packetized communications through the data network.
Abstract:
System and method for minimizing data bottlenecks in Low Data Rate Networks (LDRNs) that communicate facsimile transmissions. An LDRN is a facsimile network having a transmission data rate less than the data rate of the FAX machines serviced by the network. The system and method can be implemented in any type of LDRN, including analog and digital wired LDRNs, as well as analog and digital wireless (e.g., cellular) LDRNs. The system and method involve processing the facsimile transmissions in order to make the data rates of the LDRN and the FAX machines compatible, thereby minimizing any potential facsimile data bottlenecks that may occur in the LDRN due to its slower data rate. Lines of data are transferred by the LDRN only when the amount of data they contain is less than or equal to a line threshold value, which is adjusted according to the amount of data bottleneck experienced by the LDRN.

Abstract:
An image communication apparatus having a mode to transmit image data with unity-magnification and a mode to transmit the image data with size reduction, comprises a selector for selecting one of the unity-magnification transmission mode and the reduced size transmission mode and a setter for setting one of different minimum transmission times in accordance with the mode selected by the selector.
Abstract:
A facsimile communication system in which transmission is carried out in such a manner that, when the time of transmission of the video signals of lines provided by scanning an original is shorter than that determined by a facsimile on the signal receiving side, fill bits are transmitted in succession with the video signals so that the time of transmission of each line is adjusted to that determined by the facsimile on the signal receiving side. The period of time required for the facsimile on the signal receiving side to record video signals per line is discriminated by a facsimile on the signal transmitting side for every line according to the contents of video signals. The period of time thus discriminated is utilized as the time of transmission to transmit the video signals for each line.
