Abstract: The combination briefcase and computer bag assembly includes a housing member having a bottom member, a plurality of side members, and a pair of pivotable top flap members. One of the side members includes a flexible floating compartment that is dimensionally configured to receive a portable computer. When the portable computer is held in the flexible floating compartment, it will substantially extend in the briefcase enclosure to protect the portable computer. Abstract: An anthropomorphic travel system includes a fillable module, the shape of which approximates the upper shoulder area of a human torso, enabling a coat or like garment to be carried over and along with the module so as to minimize wrinkling of the garment. In the preferred embodiment this module is multi-compartmentalized, and includes a bottom portion with a pair of spaced-apart hooks which extend downwardly therefrom, the hooks being adapted to releasably grasp the bottom member of a clothes hanger to carry a garment secured thereto. The module also includes a back surface from which there extends downwardly a flexible, compartmentalized panel such that even when the module and panel with overdraping garment(s) are covered with an outer bag, the entire system may be folded in half lengthwise and secured in that state for compact transport while continuing to minimize wrinkling of the garment(s).

Abstract: A luggage piece and a method for packing and transporting the same are provided. A first compartment has an interior for carrying first items. A second compartment is provided for carrying second items. The second items are distinguishable from the first items in that the second compartment includes a hanging device for hanging articles from the hanging device. The second compartment, therefore, acts as a garment carrier and the first compartment acts as a standard luggage compartment. The first compartment and the second compartment are integrally formed as a single luggage piece for simple packing and unpacking of articles as well as simplified transport of the luggage piece following packing of the articles. An extendable arm having a handle and wheels is provided for transport of the luggage piece.

Abstract: A garment bag of the type having an elongate body substantially formed of flexible fabric or sheet material, and defining a cavity with a hanger support at the top for receiving hanging clothes on hangers. The bag folds double on itself for transport, and includes a pair of rigid wall portions which when the bag is folded double on itself are urged forcefully together. These rigid wall portions substantially immobilize the clothing items therebetween to greatly reduce creasing and wrinkling of the clothing items which would otherwise result from their shifting about in transit. The garment bag also includes features preserving the efforts of careful packing during folding and unfolding of the bag to further reduce clothes wrinkling. Also, the garment bag includes a specially configured toiletries kit which by its shape and placement in the folded bag further contributes to a reduction of clothes wrinkling. The garment bag is also self-supporting in its transport conditions so that it is more convenient to carry by hand.

Abstract: A clothes hanger support for a garment bag or other similar item of luggage includes a depending bracket member pivotally supporting a lower jaw member with hanger-supporting features. A closure member and latch handle cooperates with the bracket and jaw members in a closed position to hold the latter in a hanger-retaining position. Alternatively, the closure member latch handle may be pivoted to allow the jaw member to itself pivot to an open position for insertion or removal of hangers on the support. Pivotal return of the closure member latch handle to the closed position also moves the jaw member to its hanger-retaining position by cooperation of a ramp surface and ramp-follower surface of the closure member latch handle and jaw member, respectively. Abstract: Apparatus for holding folding clothing in a compact bag, particularly one suited for storage under seats or in overhead bins on commercial aircraft is disclosed. A two part folding panel is connected at one edge parallel to a hinge between two compartments of a suitcase. A hanger carrying an article of clothing is attached to a hook on the interior of a side wall opposite the hinge so that the clothing lays across the bottom of the compartment and portions of the folding panel. Two arcuate padded bars are provided over the hinge and over a fold line on the folding panel so that the clothing is wrapped around same with a relatively large radius of curvature when the first panel segment is folded along the fold line over the second panel segment, and the composite folded panel is then folded into one compartment of the suitcase. A plurality of straps connected near the exterior edge of the peripheral wall of the compartment in which the panel is folded are provided with apparatus for connecting free ends thereof in order to provide a strap web that is taut over the folded panel but does not tend to compress the folded composite of clothing in panel.

Abstract: A garment bag is provided with a single reinforcing member which extends across the top end of the bag. A carrying handle, a hanger for hanging the bag from a support, and a trolley for hanging garments within the garment bag are all connected directly to the reinforcing member so that the reinforcing member supports the entire weight of the garment bag and its contents both when the bag is hanging in an extended configuration from a support and when the bag is being carried from place to place in a folded configuration. A stiffening member which extends across the width of the bag in the bottom portion thereof and which lies adjacent the top end of the bag when the bag is in a folded configuration prevents the bottom portion of the bag from sagging to present a neat appearance. The use of a single reinforcing member enables the garment bag to be lighter in weight, easier to use and less costly to manufacture.
