摘要： An improved dental apparatus for removing excess saliva during dental procedures and also for maintaining a patient's jaw comfortably in an open position. A dental bite block has occlusal resting portions joined by an arcuate anterior member. One occlusal resting portion has a main vacuum port extending angularly therefrom and communicating with a hollow channel having openings on opposing lateral surfaces of said occlusal resting portion. The main vacuum port operably receives the suction hose of a vacuum evacuation system. Lingual and buccal saliva ejector ports, each having circumferential grooved attachments and nozzle portions, are communicably connected to either opening on the occlusal resting portion. Saliva is communicated from the ejector ports into the main port, whereupon it is communicated into the vacuum system for dispensation.

摘要： A dental apparatus includes a tray that is shaped and dimensioned to fit over at least some of the teeth of a patient. The tray defines a tunnel through which to evacuate saliva from the mouth of the patient. The tray includes a connector portion for coupling a suction source to the tunnel, and the tray defines at least a first opening in fluid communication with the tunnel through which saliva may be sucked from the mouth of the patient into the tunnel for communication to the suction source. The apparatus may take the form of a fluoride treatment tray or an impression tray, including a bite registration tray, it may include multiple trays, and it may define additional spaced-apart openings in fluid communication with the tunnel to facilitate evacuation of saliva from a larger region within the mouth of the patient. Preferably, the connector portion is configured to receive an end of a conventional saliva ejector in a close fitting relationship in order to couple a commonly used suction source to the tunnel. In one version, the tray is formed from two layers of transparent material to facilitate viewing of saliva being evacuated through the tunnel. A dental apparatus for isolating a field within the mouth of a patient is also disclosed that includes an integral saliva evacuation tunnel.

The appliance may include a raised area for securing the appliance with the patient's teeth during performance of the dental procedures and a posterior vein located in the sidewall of the bite block with an aperture placed in the posterior vein for the suctioning of debris and saliva from the soft palate region of the mouth cavity behind the bite block. A slidably and removably secured rod for transmitting a fiber optic light source for illumination of at least a portion of the mouth cavity may also be included.

摘要： A combination jaw rest and ejector having a generally hollow wedge-shaped body with upper and lower channels in which a patient's teeth rest and which holds open the patient's mouth. The wedge-shaped body is placed in the patient's mouth on the side opposite that on which work is being performed. A suction hose is attached to the body and the side of the body facing the work site is perforated so that a relatively high volume of air may be drawn into the body through the suction hose, thus drawing, with the air, blood, spray, and debris and substantially preventing the discharge of these materials, which may carry disease transmitting factors, from the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, the body includes perforated salive collecting tube and/or a tongue depressor attached thereto. In a further embodiment, the body includes an illumination source therein to illuminate the interior of the patient's mouth. In another embodiment, a combination jaw rest and ejector includes an illumination source and is provided in a system which includes a combination air flow/light switch. In another embodiment, there is provided an illuminated jaw rest without means for evacuating material from the patient' s mouth.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a suction tool that can connect to a suction hose for sucking substances from an oral cavity during a rubber dam isolated endodontic procedure. The suction tool includes a body having an inlet for connecting with a suction hose. A suction window can be configured in the body, wherein the suction window is in fluid communication with the suction inlet. Substances that are used during a dental procedure, such as cooling water can be sucked through the suction window. The suction tool further includes a magnet configured on the body of the suction tool and adapted to magnetically couple with the clamp of the rubber dam.
