摘要: The improved creped non-laminar singular web structure comprising long fibers and short fibers demonstrated by high TWA and Z peeling. Creping causes a certain portion of long synthetic fibers and short fibers to substantially be oriented in a predetermined vertical or Z direction across the thickness of the web structure. In particular, when a stratified preparation containing wet stiff CTMP fibers is used, the vertically oriented CTMP fibers increase the total water absorption (TWA) of the web structure without collapsing. The high TWA print/double-creped paper products manufactured from the above web structure are suitable for heavy wipe and dry uses.

摘要: Provided is a high strength wet-laid nonwoven fabric having strength, i.e., tensile strength, tear strength and interlayer peeling strength, similar to those of a filament nonwoven fabric, and a uniformity similar to that of a conventional wet-laid nonwoven fabric. This nonwoven fabric is made of a fiber having a fiber diameter of from 7 .mu.m to 25 .mu.m and a ratio L/D of from 0.8.times.10.sup.3 to 2.0.times.10.sup.3 and is produced by entangling the fibers in a sheet made by a paper making machine by using a columnar water stream.

摘要: A method for forming a fibrous web by wet-laying fibers on paper-making equipment, the web comprising staple length natural or synthetic fibers and wood cellulose paper-making fibers wherein a water furnish of the fibers is made up with an associative thickener in the absence of a conventional surfactant. A preferred associative thickener for use with hydrophobic fibers is a urethane block copolymer having a polyethylene glycol backbone, the associative thickener acting as both surfactant and thickener. With predominately cellulosic fibers, i.e. conventional wood cellulose fibers, or a mixture of conventional and contorted wood fibers, and synthetic cellulosic fibers, such as rayon, a hydroxyethyl cellulose having a long alkyl side chain is preferred. Excellent consistency of the water and fiber dispersion is obtained at relatively low viscosity with rapid drainage of water from the wire and uniform formation of the web.

摘要: A process is shown wherein an aqueous binder composition, preferably a latex binder composition, is foamed and applied as a layer of controlled thickness on a transfer roll rotating above a moving fibrous web but out of touch with the latter while suction is applied below the web in the region of the roll to draw the foam off the roll and into the web. The web is subsequently dried. The process produces webs of improved hand because impregnation is accomplished with only the foam coming into contact with the web.

摘要: The present invention provides a durable tissue product produced from a tissue web that has been manufactured by applying a binder, such as by printing, to one side of the web and then contacting the binder applied side to a rotating dryer and creping the web therefrom. The side of the web opposite of the binder applied side is generally not treated with a binder, or the like, and is not subjected to creping. Further, the opposite side is generally formed from a layer of short, low coarseness cellulosic fibers, such as hardwood kraft fibers, and may be substantially free from long cellulosic fibers, such as softwood fibers. Despite forming the untreated surface from short fibers, the tissue product has good durability, such as a slough from about 6.0 to about 9.0 mg.
