摘要: A device for rapid hardware sizing includes a ruler-like body having a fixed end and a distal end, a fixed jaw at the fixed end, and a sliding jaw opposite the fixed jaw being slidably connected to the body such that the sliding jaw slides there along from a point immediately adjacent to the fixed jaw to the distal end. A digital logic calculation and display means is secured to the sliding jaw such that it moves along the body with the sliding jaw. A measuring means is in communication with the digital logic calculation and display means, and measures a distance between the fixed and sliding jaws. The distance is then communicated to the digital logic calculation and display means and selectively displayed thereon.A method for rapid hardware sizing includes steps of measuring a distance between fixed and sliding jaws, communicating the distance to a digital logic calculation and display means to enable it to automatically calculate and display the distance as a caliper measurement or a nut size, selectively changing between metric and British units of measurement, and displaying the distance with an indication of the corresponding selections from caliper measurement and nut size, and from metric and British units of measurement.

摘要: A track mounted machine is capable of inserting a previously positioned tie plate between a rail and underlying cross tie of a railway. The machine preferably is also capable of lifting the rail from the tie prior to tie plate insertion and/or, is capable of operating on both rails of a railway simultaneously. The preferred embodiment includes two tie plate inserter assemblies mounted on a common workhead. Each tie plate inserter assembly includes a pusher that can be moved, under control of an operator stationed on the machine, vertically and longitudinally of the rails so as to be aligned with a field end of the tie plate. The pusher can then be actuated to push the tie plate laterally under the rail.

摘要: The nut and bolt measuring tool is a clamping hand tool that is used to rapidly and accurately measure the size of nuts, bolts and other similar fittings. The measuring tool has a first arm, a second arm, a medial pivot, and a spring member. The first arm and second arm are pivotally connected medially, and each have a clamping portion that are held together in a closed position by the spring member bias when the tool is not in use. Handle portions on each arm may be squeezed together in order to fit the tool over a fitting to be measured, with the spring member allowing the tool to be locked in place. One handle is equipped with a double-sided measurement arm that engages a pair of pointers on the other handle for making a measurement while the tool is in use.

摘要: According to one aspect of the invention there is provided a prefabricated rail sleeper [10] suitable for use in erecting a track structure [30]. The rail sleeper [10] comprises an elongate body portion [12] for supporting rails [14], the body portion [12] including a top surface [12,1], a bottom face [12.1] and at least two side faces [12.3], and terminating at least at one end thereof in a transition joint formation [16] dimensioned matingly to engage a complimentarily dimensioned transition joint formation [16] of an adjacent rail sleeper [10] in use so as to form a substantially continuous track structure. The sleeper [10] also includes a series of block formations [20], each of which is at least partially outwardly flared and extending beyond the side faces [12.3] of the body portion [12] so as to increase shear interlock of the sleeper [10] with the track bed to reduce longitudinal creep; as well as a series of transverse drainage ducts [26] extending underneath the rail sleeper [10] for allowing rainwater drainage between different side faces [12.3] of the body portion [12] and away from the rail sleeper. The invention extends to a ballast-free track structure [30] comprising at least two rail sleepers [10] according to the invention wherein the sleepers are located in spaced parallel orientation on a ballast-free track bed so as to define a centre drain [32] between the sleepers; and including a mesh [34] located between the sleepers [10] for reinforcing the centre drain [32].

摘要: In a railroad track bed an injected layer is formed between the railroad ties and the roadbed so as to protect the latter. The injected layer is composed of an injection material injected through openings formed in the tie. The injection material has a viscosity below 30 poise at a temperature not higher than 200.degree. C. before hardening, and when hardened it has a compressive stress at 10% strain of 0.4 to 30kg/cm.sup.2 at a compressive strain rate at 40.degree. C. of 1.5% per minute.

摘要: Improved curvable track for model railroads in which a track bed of simulated crossties is formed as an integral flexible structure by linking the ties with a continuous web underlying the rail on one side of the track. Opposite the continuous web and underlying the other rail of the track, the ties are linked in alternate pairs. The rail of the track overlying the continuous web of the crosstie bed is secured thereto by simulated spikes against both lateral and longitudinal movement while the opposite rail overlying the alternately linked tie pairs is secured by simulated spike heads only against lateral movement and is free to move longitudinally with respect to the tie bed.
