    Abstract: In construction or repair of a railway road bed a base section of particulate matter is laid and consolidated with polymer: resin:solvent emulsion, a layer of ballast is added, the ties and rails are laid, and additional ballast is laid between the ties and at the ends of the ties to a height and width sufficient to produce a curb on top of the base section and outside the ties. This curb is then consolidated by treatment with this emulsion leaving the center strip and the layer of ballast immediately below the rails unconsolidated to facilitate subsequent leveling or repair.

    Abstract: An assembled section of a train rail track structure comprises an electrically isolating cross tie comprising a ‘c-face down’ open channel defining at least one of a plurality of holes, tabs and notches in a flange at a top thereof and in a plurality of sides thereof proximal to each end of the open channel cross tie. The assembled section also includes an angle plate configured with a horizontal portion and a vertical component to cover an end portion of the ‘c-face down’ open channel and directly fasten thereto via at least one of a plurality of holes, tabs and notches complementary thereto. The assembled track further includes a first section of electrically isolating cross ties comprising a first warning color closest a rail crossing and a second section of cross ties immediately beyond the first section comprising a second warning color and coordinated flashing and strobing lights attached thereto.

    Abstract: A train rail track structure system includes a c-face down steel channel cross tie defining a plurality of holes in a top wider web surface thereof and a protrusion with perpendicular faces extending from an underside of the top surface, the holes configured to pass a fixative and solidifying mixture into a ballast bed there beneath. The protrusion anchors the steel channel cross tie in the fixative and solidifying mixture and the ballast bed. The disclosed system also includes a c-face down steel channel connecting link defining a receptacle for at least one intermediate rail support member in a top wider web surface thereof. The link also defines tabs and notches proximal to both longitudinal ends of the steel channel connecting link configured to interleave with at least one steel channel cross tie and interlock the steel channel connecting link to the steel channel cross tie.

    Abstract: In a railroad track bed an injected layer is formed between the railroad ties and the roadbed so as to protect the latter. The injected layer is composed of an injection material injected through openings formed in the tie. The injection material has a viscosity below 30 poise at a temperature not higher than 200.degree. C. before hardening, and when hardened it has a compressive stress at 10% strain of 0.4 to 30kg/cm.sup.2 at a compressive strain rate at 40.degree. C. of 1.5% per minute.

    Abstract: While a tamping unit with tamping tools for tamping track ballast is lowered to immerse the tamping tools in the ballast and to tamp the same, a metered amount of a liquid bonding medium is delivered to and through internal conduits in the tamping tools and ejected through an opening under pressure thereby to bond together pieces of ballast coated by the ejected bonding medium. The commencement and termination of the bonding medium delivery is controlled in response to the depth of immersion of the tamping tools in the ballast.

    Abstract: A railbed for high-speed railways in which a plurality of elongated concrete slabs are longitudinally prestressed in groups with cast synthetic-resin sealing strips between the adjoining ends of the concrete slabs. The slabs are laid over a hollow bed and are cushioned below with a hard-foam synthetic resin including expanded mineral filters, the foamable synthetic resin being injected through perforated ducts. The downward force is supported by a pair of longitudinally extending sills flanking the hollow and carrying the concrete-slab platform via sealing strips. The sills may be formed in situ by grouting mounds of loose stone or may be cast monolithically with the remainder of the bed.
