A device for raising and supporting the foundation of a building comprises a pile, a first assembly adapted to fixed to the foundation, a second assembly adapted to grip the pile to be inserted in the ground, and hydraulic cylinders connected at opposed ends thereof to the first and second assemblies. The cylinders, when retracted, draw the second assembly downwardly for driving the pile in the ground. The first assembly includes a guide tube for guiding the pile while the pile is driven in the ground by the second assembly and the cylinders. The pile is made of a series of longitudinally aligned pile sections that are connected together. Once a lower end of the pile has reached sufficient underground resistance, further actuation of the second assembly causes the foundation to be raised. Once the foundation has been raised to a desired position, the pile is fixed to the guide tube of the first assembly thereby supporting the foundation in the desired position. The second assembly comprises a pair of opposed jaws that engage the pile when the second assembly is drawn downwardly by the cylinders. The second assembly comprises a side door for allowing pile sections to be added to the pile by front loading in the second assembly.

The bracket provides adjustable engagement to limit rotation of the bracket with respect to an installed pier. The bracket assembly has an housing, a bearing member, load transfer plates, reinforcing means, and an adjusting bolt beneath the bearing member. The housing is either two parallel plates or a tube. In the plates embodiment, two slots receive either a pin, a gate alone, or a gate with a moveable plate. In the tube embodiment, the pier fits snugly within the tube. Further, the bracket permits locating tools over the piers to reduce induced bending moment at the junction of the pier and the bracket. The bracket assembly stabilizes and lifts piers.

The form assembly comprises a plurality of form stiffeners which are spaced apart along a proposed foundation wall and extend downwardly from the floor, each stiffener having laterally spaced apart inner and outer edges. A flexible sheet form element has laterally spaced apart upper portions connected to the edges of the stiffeners and a lower portion spaced below the stiffeners so as to form an essentially continuous elongated container below the stiffeners and in contact with the site surface. A flowable and settable foundation material essentially fills a space within the container and between the flexible sheet forms and extends essentially continuously upwardly from the site surface to a lower surface of the floor assembly to support the floor assembly thereon when the foundation material has cured. Preferably, the stiffeners restrict lateral movement of upper portions of the flexible sheet form element so that lower portions of the flexible sheet form element have a lateral width greater than space between upper portions of the form element to form foundation footings of suitable width.

The cleated plates are further connected to each other by an intermediate stabilizer bar (90). The resulting system is a plurality of stabilizer systems crosswise of the home, each including a pair of opposed anchors, a pair of outer stabilizer bars, a pair of piers, cleated plates, and an intermediate stabilizer bar. With the system, forces on one side of the home can be transferred through the system to the anchor on the other side of the home. A bracket (140) connects the outer stabilizer bar to the anchor.

The pier provides enhanced seismic and wind force absorption properties over prior art piers. The invented pier includes a base plate having a threaded shaft affixed thereto. A plurality of webs are spatially positioned about the shaft at predetermined intervals. A support member has a first end threadably coupled to the shaft for adjusting the height of the pier. Couple members detachably couple to second end of the support member for attaching the pier to a support beam of the movable dwelling to prevent movement between the pier and the dwelling. A clamp member is affixed to the plurality of webs. The clamp member couples to the support member for preventing movement of the support member relative to the shaft and the clamp member. Environmental forces applied to the support member are transmitted from the clamp member and distributed through the plurality of webs to prevent the pier from collapsing.
