摘要： A non-lethal projector and launcher therefor for riot control and the like comprising a body formed from a relatively soft, pliant latex material compressed to projectile form and mounted within a restraining cup which in turn is mounted in a firing shell. The body at its rearward end includes retracted guidance structure that extends on the projectile being fired, a chamber at its forward end to receive a marking fluid for marking the target, and internal subdivisions in its mid portion designed to permit the body to expand laterally on impacting into a soft textured mass that flattens on impact to avoid injury to the target. The projectile launcher is in the form of a barrel assembly including a bell shaped muzzle which permits the projectile to be fired without jamming even when held against the target and braking slots for discharging the propelling gases rearwardly of the launcher to reduce recoil.

摘要： A non-lethal cartridge comprising a primary charge, a secondary charge and a projectile which consists of a B-B ball shot encased in a plastic carrier. A shielded detonating cord extends axially between the cartridge''s primer and the primary charge which is located in the base of the carrier. When the primer is initiated, the primary charge is ignited through the cord to drive the carrier and the B-B through the muzzle of a firearm. Vents in the carrier initiates the ignition of the secondary charge to generate sufficient gas pressure to cycle the firearm.

A dummy body member or projectile is inserted into the cartridge case and bears against the case floor portion. Means serve for securing one end of the dummy body member to the floor portion of the cartridge case, whereas a further portion of the dummy body member is attached to the mouth portion of said cartridge case. The dummy body member possesses a substantially cylindrical hollow compartment having a forward portion. An adjustable trim body is inserted into the forward portion of the hollow compartment, in order to place the center of gravity of the dummy cartridge at a predetermined desired position.

摘要： A bullet is formed of an explosive charge with a primer at one end and a projectile mass at the other end, all enclosed in a continuous plastic sheath. The sheath has a weakened central section to define a line of separation for a projectile section from the body of the plastic sheath when the explosive charge is fired. By controlling the weight of the projectile and the stress required to separate the plastic case at the weakened section, the impact characteristics of the projectile can be controlled. A blank is fabricated by eliminating the projectile and forming the weakened sheath section at the end of the sheath. The combined primer and charge is encased by a thin, plastic sheath portion which is thin enough to allow a weapon firing pin to fire the primer. The combined primer and charge is also formed of a small caliber blank with a conventional brass case.

摘要： Practice ammunition including a projectile formed by a thin walled frangible plastic body casing or shell having a spin-weld interconnected rear closure element and being filled with a loose mass of finely divided particulate material of substantially higher density, and preferably of relatively low animal toxicity. The plastic body casing or shell is smooth walled and formed without longitudinal grooving, and if fragmented on exit from a rifled barrel through the combined lateral forces of set-back and centrifugal force operating to radially expand the mass of particulate filler. The particulate material is partially dispersed by these same forces and further dispersed and retarded by wind resistance after leaving the barrel so as to fall to the ground within a relatively short distance from the barrel. A key slot is formed in a rear closure element for rotational locking during spin welding assembly of the body casing or shell, and a rearwardly facing annular obturator encompasses the key slot.
