摘要: The Modified anatomical direct lateral approach (Vitosha approach), a novel approach in hip arthroplasty, preserving the iliofemoral ligament and restoring the joint capsule, providing higher initial joint stability and easier rehabilitation without the need for post-operative patients' dislocation precautions is provided. The fascial incision curves along the posterior aspect of the greater trochanter and ends at its lower border, preventing a split of vastus lateralis muscle. The anterolateral periosteal layer which conjoins the gluteus medius and vastus lateralis muscles is sharply elevated from the greater trochanter. Gluteus medius muscle and the underlying gluteus minimus are split along its fibers and retracted anteriorly. A vertical capsular incision is made anterior to the femoral shaft, starting from the basicervical line and extending proximally along the longitudinal body axis, with the iliofemoral ligament fibers remained intact.

摘要: Systems and methods facilitate the planning and performance of hip and other surgeries. A computer model of a hip may be generated and displayed. A template of a hip component that replaces a native portion of the hip may be superimposed on the model. Changes in leg length, offset, or anterior-posterior (AP) position as well as a virtual distance between a landmark on the model and a location on the template may be determined. During surgery, a physical distance corresponding to the virtual distance may be obtained. The template may be moved relative to the model to match the physical distance, and new change values in leg length, offset, or anterior-posterior (AP) position may be determined. The new change values may be evaluated, and the surgery may proceed, or the process may be repeated using templates corresponding to alternative components.

摘要: The invention relates to a device for producing a spacer having a casting mold, wherein the casting mold has a stem mold and a mold cavity with a spherical surface-shaped inner surface, wherein the stem mold and the mold cavity delimit a common interior, at least one filling opening and at least one vent element, wherein the stem mold is dimensionally stable on injection of bone cement paste into the casting mold, while, on injection of bone cement paste into the casting mold, the mold cavity is expandable at least in the region of the spherical surface-shaped inner surface by pressure imparted by the injected bone cement paste. The invention also relates to a method for producing spacers using such a device.

摘要: An interlocking reverse hip prosthesis including an acetabular cup having an opening in the central portion of the cup being implanted in the acetabular cavity. The opening has a circular extending wall protruding into the concave portion of the cup a distance at least equal to the diameter of the opening. The inward extension of the cup provides a female Morse taper suited for receiving the male Morse tapered post of the acetabular ball. After implantation of the acetabular cup, the surgeon can easily secure the cup to the acetabular bone using several screws without the interference of the central peg (as in prior implants). The femoral ball is then attached to the cup via central Morse taper.
