摘要:
A plurality of weft threads pass through a chain type of thread guide and are picked up by a tensioning chain for presentation to the magazine chain of a warp knitting machine. Weft thread is supplied by a plurality of spools located at one side of the machine. The thread guide comprises a single chain or a pair of chains arranged in the form of a figure ''''8''''. The tensioning means is an endless chain equipped with gripping clip devices for taking the free end of the thread from the guide means and drawing it away therefrom. The angle of the direction of travel of the thread guide chain relative to the direction of travel of the chain of the tensioning means is such that the tensioning means draws the thread from the guide means at an angle of substantially 90* during the travel of the respective chains. In this fashion, the friction frequently associated with prior art devices is significantly reduced.

A warp knitting or Raschel machine with means for feeding filler thread to the knitting implements and with a sinker arrangement mounted above the needles, is provided with a plurality of filler sinkers extending into the space between trick plates and needles, and movably mounted below the needles. The filler sinkers perform a movement consisting of consecutive horizontal and vertical sections in timed relationship with the needle action and cooperate with the sinker arrangement to hold a filler thread brought behind the back side of the needles in place during the rising of the needles.

The invention relates to devices adapted to positively supply a thread or like elongated article under an approximately constant tension to a processing machine as it is pulled by the latter, of the kind comprising a thread advancing mechanism driven by a variable-speed electric motor, and two supports, such as pivoted levers, movable with respect to each other and urged apart by appropriate means such as springs, each carrying a number of guiding means between which the thread passes in zig-zag fashion, while means are provided to control the angular speed of the motor in such manner that it increases as the supports come nearer to each other and that it decreases when they move apart. In order to absorb the sudden variations of the linear speed at which the thread is pulled by the processing machine, as for instance a loom with stationary weft supply, in accordance with the invention the thread guiding means are carried by the movable supports through the medium of spring loaded pivoted arms of quite negligible inertia which follow closely the variations of the pulling speed of the thread without causing appreciable additional tensions. With such an arrangement the supports are practically only responsive to the variations in the average pulling speed of the thread.

A feed mechanism for feeding lengths of weft thread on chains carrying to the knitting line of a weft inserted warp knitting machine is described. The chains are provided with conventional clamping thread transfer pins. A plurality of yarns from stationary yarn packages are mounted in a line parallel to the direction of the movement of the weft carrier chains. The yarns from the packages are led to a frame which oscillates from one carrier chain to the other, thus stringing the multiple yarns across and laying them parallel to each other. There are two variants for the frame, in one of which the frame has an inner frame which moves vertically, whereas the outer frame oscillates horizontally across, thus producing a figure-eight path for the yarn. The second variant has a much larger number of yarns, and the frame oscillates horizontally, with no inner frame.

The yarn guide of a warp knitting machine is mounted for reciprocation through a first phase wherein the path of the yarn from the fixed supply cone to the yarn guide is shortened and a second phase wherein this path is lengthened. A mechanism is arranged in this path which comprises a yarn hook mounted for coordinated movement so that a stored length of the yarn is formed during the first phase and the stored length of yarn disappears during the second phase of the movement.

Means are provided for keeping a plurality of weft threads of knitting and weaving machines separated so that they cannot cling or cohere and form defective warp knit goods. An endless moving belt is arranged obliquely across the width of the readied weft and provided with pins whose movement is coordinated with the speed of the weft feed.

Method of operating a warp knitting machine includes, after interruption of a weft running to the weft storage and after shut-down of the machine, severing the drive connection between the weft storage and the knitting instruments, removing the length of weft extending from the break thereof to the weft storage, thereafter placing the weft storage in filling position, automatically refilling the weft reserve remaining in the weft storage, and restoring the drive connection between the weft storage and the knitting instruments so as to resume the knitting process.

First and second spaced apart conveyors, extending toward the knitting instrumentalities of a knitting machine, each carry a plurality of thread clamping means. Guide means bring filling threads from filling thread supplies to the first conveyor where they are clamped. The guide means then moves to the second conveyor to pull filling threads from the supplies and draw them between the conveyors, the filling threads being clamped in the second conveyor. At some point during movement of the guide means, locking means lock the filling threads against further removal from the supplies so as to provide a predetermined tension to the filling threads which become clamped between the conveyors. Means may be provided for tensioning the filling threads as they are withdrawn from their supplies.

A machine for supplying parallel lengths of fibrous strands for incorporation in a non-woven fabric. A guide carriage reciprocates between a pair of continuously moving conveyors having strand engaging hooks. The carriage lays a band of strands, first around a set of hooks of one conveyor and then a set of hooks on the other conveyor. Before each crossing of the carriage, a rake adjacent each conveyor extends each strand, relative to the conveyor, a distance of one band width from a first holding element to a second holding element upstream of the same conveyor. The carriage, rake, and conveyors are operated in timed relation so that the lengths of strands extending between conveyors will all be parallel for presentation to fabric forming means.
