    摘要: A continuous well string injector features a frame carrying a pair of endless chain conveyors on opposite sides of a pathway. Each chain carries gripper dies for engaging the continuous well string when received in the pathway. A respective skate and cylinder block reside in the closed loop path of each chain. Each cylinder block features a plurality of blind bores having open ends facing toward the respective skate, and a respective piston is slidably disposed within each bore. Hydraulic extension and retraction ports open into the cylinder bores on opposite sides of the piston, whereby back and forth displacement of the pistons forces the skates toward and away from one another to grip and release the continuous well string. A front wall of the frame has an open horizontal gap aligned with the pathway to enable lateral entrance and exit of the continuous string to and from the pathway.

    摘要: The invention is directed to a marine tensioner (1) for handling an elongated article from an offshore vessel. The tensioner comprises a tensioner frame (11), multiple track units (20), wherein each track unit comprises an elongated chassis (30) and an endless track supported by said chassis, wherein between the chassis of each track unit and the tensioner frame a connecting structure (40,140) is provided that at least allows for lateral motion of the track unit with respect to the passage axis (26) so as to adapt the position of the track unit.     摘要: A mechanism (10) for feeding a length of twisted pair cable (15), comprises a driven capstan (11) and a continuous belt (17) defining, respectively, first and second contact surfaces for the twisted pair cable (15). The continuous belt (17) is supported and arranged so that a portion thereof embraces an arc (16) of the substantially circular periphery of the capstan (11). Drive means are provided to effect rotation of the capstan (11), so as to feed a length of twisted pair cable (15) along the arcuate path (16) defined between the first and second contact surfaces where the arc (16) of the capstan (11) intersects the continuous belt (17). The arcuate path (16) is sufficiently narrow such that the capstan (11) and the continuous belt (17) embrace the length of twisted pair cable (15), and sufficiently long such that at least two nodes (19) of said length of twisted pair cable (15) are accommodated therein. This arrangement ensures feeding of the twisted pair cable (15) along the arcuate path (16) without causing rotation of the cable (15) about its axis.

    摘要: A capstan belt (80) is mounted on a pair of pulleys (82,83) for engagement with the surface of a draw capstan (75), the capstan belt (80) being driven for rotation on the pair of pulleys (82,83) by rotational movement of the capstan (75). A coated optical fiber (35) is drawn between the capstan (75) and the capstan belt (80). At least a surface of the capstan belt (80) is manufactured of a very low modulus material which easily deforms when contacting the coated optical fiber (35) such that the belt material deforms rather than the coating on the fiber during contact between the belt and the coated fiber. An idler belt (78) may surround the capstan (75) and an idler pulley (79), at least the surface of the idler belt (78) being manufactured of the same or similar material as the capstan belt (80). The belt material has a modulus of elasticity in the range of 10 to 200 PSI (0.07 to 1.38 MPa) at 10% strain and 200 to 5000 PSI (1.38 to 34.5 MPa) at 100% strain. Additionally, the abrasion resistance of the belt material when tested in accordance with ASTM C501 (1,000 cycles at 1,000 gram load) is in the range of 10 to 200. The tear properties of the belt material (as measured in accordance with ASTM D 624 die C) are in the range of 100 to 1000 lb/linear inch (1.75.times.104 to 1.75.times.105 nt/m). The compression properties of the belt material in accordance with ASTM D395 are in the range of 1 to 20% (set, method A) or in the range of 5 to 50% (set, method B).
