    摘要: A body portion of non-luminous material has an enlarged surface area on which design elements are applied of luminous material. The design elements are shaped to depict celestial bodies and the arrangement is such that when these design portions are charged by light, they will glow in the dark so that in an overhead position a nocturnal celestial appearance is provided. The body portion can consist of a double layer of material and the design elements confined between the two layers. A support for the body portion may include an electric motor for rotating the body portion to simulate rotation of the earth.

    摘要: An educational time-space clock having an oval dial provided with astronomical information; and indicating hands which rotate counterclockwise in proper sequence; as well as the current hour and minute or second indicating hands which also rotate counterclockwise with respect to calibrations of minutes, and hours in Roman numerals, arranged on the dial for counterclockwise reading. An earth hand carries a representation of the earth having an orbiting small ball corresponding to the moon. The second earth hand bears a legend of the speed of light. The hour hand simulates a rocket in flight, and an alarm-timesetting hand is in the form of a lightning bolt. A calendar display and a historical data display are also provided on the front of the clock.

    摘要: A planetarium moon projector of the direct casting type includes two alternatively interchangeable occulting elements which rotate at twice the period of moon phasing to intercept the projected light beam and effect the waxing and waning of the moon, and which are conically shaped with the same convergent angle as the projected convergent light and with an occulting relief angle. Two intermittent gears revolve integrally with the occulting elements and there is provided a fixed cylindrical rail with a rack, which keeps contact with the intermittent gears, and which interchanges the occulting elements when the intermittent gears are engaged with the rack. An eccentric drive coupling is provided to correct the dislocation of the moon phase caused by the occulting relief angle.

    摘要: The provision of a planetarium projector provided with a nearpoint light source for the projection of the star images and including means for mounting, and maintaining, a star projection sphere concentric with the underside of a hemispherical dome within which the projector means is operatively positioned, to provide a highly realistic, accurate reproduction of the heavens as they appear from a given observation point upon the surface of the earth. The planetarium projector means also includes optical projection means for the sun, moon and planets which includes means for eliminating parallax from these projectors due to their somewhat non-concentric placement relative to the projection dome. Still further, the utilization of a point light source provided with means for decreasing the intensity of the lamp toward that portion thereof responsible for the projection of the fixed star images in the equatorial regions of the projection dome provides a unique method of presenting a planetarium display characterized by a high degree of realism in the projected night sky.

    摘要: A planetarium for projecting celestial objects includes control means which is connected to a magnetic tape recorder. A description of a celestial display is normally recorded on the magnetic tape through the recorder and alternatively or in conjunction therewith information can be recorded on photographic slides. As the persons in attendance listen to the voice description of the display from the magnetic tape recorder, a second track on said tape provides control signals to automatically turn off certain of the planetarium lamps. The control signals further act to turn on and turn off motors which move the lamps, thereby simulating the movement of the celestial bodies as they are being described by the voice from the tape recorder. At the same time, switches can be operated to cause a library of slides to be shown from a projector if it is deemed appropriate to have such slides shown during the recorded lecture.

Provided are a light source, a projection lens, a starry-sky projection negative plate, a twinkling negative plate with uneven light-transmitting properties, a starry-sky-end support unit that supports the starry-sky projection negative plate in a location onto which light from the light source is radiated, a twinkling-end support unit that supports the twinkling negative plate between the starry-sky projection negative plate and the projection lens or between the light source and the starry-sky projection negative plate, and an actuation mechanism that rotationally actuates, by power from an actuator, the starry-sky projection negative plate in a state of being supported by the starry-sky-end support unit and the twinkling negative plate in a state of being supported by the twinkling-end support unit. Light that has penetrated the starry-sky projection negative plate and the twinkling negative plate is radiated onto the target surface via the projection lens.
