    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a base station may transmit, and a user equipment (UE) may receive, initial timing advance information in a msg2 communication of a four-step random access channel procedure based at least in part on a subcarrier spacing in a cell associated with the base station. The UE may transmit, and the base station may receive, a msg3 communication with an initial timing advance that is based at least in part on the initial timing advance information. The base station may transmit, and the UE may receive, updated timing advance information resolving a timing advance wrap-around between the UE and the base station based at least in part on the base station detecting the msg3 communication. Numerous other aspects are provided.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for managing beam configurations and parameters for non-terrestrial networks. In some implementations, a UE may detect a synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted by a satellite via a first beam. Aspects of the present disclosure recognize that each beam may be identified by a unique SSB index based at least in part on a time or frequency on which the SSB is received. Thus, the SSB may be identified based on a frequency-domain SSB index or a time-domain SSB index. The UE may further determine one or more wireless communication parameters associated with the first beam. The UE may generate a mapping between the SSB and the wireless communication parameters associated with the first beam, and thereafter communicate with the satellite using the mapping.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station by initiating a random access procedure with a two-root preamble. The UE may receive, from the base station, control signaling that indicates a set of root preamble sequences. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a preamble signal that is generated based on a first root preamble sequence and a second root preamble sequence of the set of root preamble sequences. The UE may then monitor for a preamble response based on the preamble signal. In some cases, the base station may be a base station in a terrestrial network. In other cases, the base station may be a satellite in a non-terrestrial network (NTN).

    Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to repetitions of uplink transmissions. In an example, a network entity may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of repetitive scheduling of a downlink control channel, wherein the indication triggers a correspondence between the repetitive scheduling of the downlink control channel and one or more repetition factors for an uplink control channel, each of the one or more repetition factors corresponding to a repetition count for uplink control messages on the uplink control channel; and receive, from the UE on the uplink control channel, repetitions of an uplink control message according to a first repetition factor of the one or more repetition factors for the uplink control channel.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may monitor for a transmission of a synchronization signal block that includes a first portion generated using a first waveform type and a second portion using a second waveform type that is different than the first waveform type. The wireless device may detect the first portion of the synchronization signal block based on the first waveform type used for the first portion. After detecting the first portion of the synchronization signal block, the wireless device may process the second portion of the synchronization signal block based on information obtained from the first portion of the synchronization signal block. The information obtained from the first portion of the synchronization signal block may include timing information, frequency information, or both.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support communication of information buts based on reference signal index modulation (RS-IM). A base station and a UE may transmit a number of downlink and uplink information bits (e.g., downlink control bits, uplink control bits) using index modulation schemes applied on references signals. A base station and a UE may transmit reference signal transmissions using reference signal index modulation, in which a set of information bits may be encoded using one or more coding techniques, in conjunction with RS-IM techniques, to enhance reliability of some or all of the information bits. Error detection bits may be added to the information bits, and included when coding is performed. Coding may include channel coding, repetition of reference signals for combining at a receiving device, or any combinations thereof.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described and may include a user terminal and a satellite establishing a communication link over a channel having a channel delay and a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE) delay being determined based on the channel delay. The user terminal and the satellite may be within a non-terrestrial network (NTN). The user terminal may receive a MAC-CE command that indicates a communication parameter to be implemented or adjusted. The user terminal may transmit feedback, for example, to the satellite in response to the MAC-CE command, and the user terminal and the satellite may communicate according to the communication parameter in the MAC-CE command after an end of the MAC-CE delay.
